๐ธ Utkal Divas โ Celebrating the Soul of Odisha ๐ธ
A very happy Utkal Divas to everyone!
Today, April 1st, marks a historic moment for all Odias. On this day in 1936, Odisha emerged as the first linguistic state of India, created to honor and preserve the distinct identity shaped by the rich Odia language, culture, and heritage.
Utkal Divas is far more than just a holidayโ
it is a celebration of our roots, resilience, and pride.
We pay heartfelt tribute to the visionary leaders who paved the way for modern Odishaโ
Utkala Gourab Madhusudan Das, Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Shri Ramachandra Bhanjadeo, and many others whose dedication united all Odia-speaking regions into one beautiful state.
Their efforts gifted us a homeland defined not just by geography, but by culture and shared identity.
Odisha, the sacred land of Lord Jagannath, carries a legacy etched in historyโfrom the ancient Kalinga civilization to the architectural brilliance of the Konark Sun Temple. Our state is home to timeless art forms, graceful dance traditions like Odissi, and a vibrant cultural tapestry that continues to inspire the world.
As we celebrate today, let us also take a pledgeโ
to contribute to Odishaโs growth,
to empower education,
to embrace innovation and technology,
and to uphold our cultural roots with pride.
Let us unite in the spirit of โOdisha Firstโ, carrying forward the legacy of our ancestors and striving to make them proud.
Bande Utkala Janani!
Thank you.
