Peila is a non-profit organization based in Tel-Aviv-Jaffa offering an innovative approach to the production and exhibition of art. Peila’s agenda is based on interaction with the local communities and other non profits in Tel Aviv and Jaffa along with similar organizations around the world. Peila operates, side-by-side, a residency program allowing cultural operators (artists, curators, designers
etc) both local and from around the world; to relate to the fascinating and controversial Israeli reality from a first hand experience. Peila’s structure allows a focus on a variety of social groups, focusing on those living in areas of conflict: political, social, religious or economic. Peila will produce activities for these communities in which the point of departure is: “Art as a means of communication” by physically involving them in hands-on experiences of art and culture making and art exhibiting. In 2012 Peila will launch its new 6000sqf work space in the heart of the Jaffa flee market. This is a part of along term collaboration between Peila and the Tel Aviv Jaffa Municipality.
