Michelle Kearns Designs I create unique pieces from my studio on Vicar Street in Tuam Co. Galway. Custom designs to suit as I am so excited to finally start this properly.

I had my first experience with millinery when I signed up for a night course in February 2012. I was finished my course in Interior architecture, Sligo, in 2008. It was the start of the recession and the worst timing. There was very little work in Ireland and I felt traveling to another country for work wasn't for me. At the time my son Jacob was one and a half and I felt I needed to be around my

family and friends. Feeling defeated I started a part time job and gave up any sort of design. To be honest I didn't really try either to get a job in my field. I fell out of love with my course towards the end. That's very hard to say when you spend years of sleepless nights, money and effort on it to realise its not for you. I loved the design side of it. I loved creating concepts, making models, sketching, rendering and making your ideas come to life but I always fell when it came to the regulations, rules and design constraints. It would frustrate me when sometimes there were situations where building restrictions would sometimes restrict my ideas. What I am trying to get at is this is for me. Designing and actually physically creating from start to finish. There are no rules or regulations in this field, just opinion and everyone has one weather its good or bad so I might as well go for it.
