🇮🇪 A fantastic start for Team Ireland at the 71st World Ploughing Contest in Osijek-Baranja County, Croatia! 🇮🇪

Huge congratulations to John Whelan, who finished 3rd today in the Reversible class, putting himself in a medal position after the opening day. 🥉👏

Well done also to Eamonn Treacy, who put in a strong performance to finish 6th in the Conventional class. 🇮🇪💪

It’s still all to play for tomorrow! Day 2 placings will be added to today’s results, with the combined overall total from both days determining the final World Championship positions.

John is right in the hunt for the podium, and both Irish competitors will be giving it everything as they battle for the best possible overall result. 🍀🚜

Best of luck to John and Eamonn tomorrow — Ireland is behind you all the way! 🇮🇪🚜🏆

Martina Beirne from Roscommon Ploughing Association travelled to the De Courcey Competition Ploughing Training Day in Ballinspittle where she met up with Laoise O’Driscoll winner of the All-Ireland Novice Reversible Ploughing Competition 2025.

🇮🇪 Best wishes to Eamonn Tracey & John Whelan 🇮🇪

Roscommon Ploughing would like to wish Eamonn Tracey of Carlow and John Whelan of Wexford the very best of luck as they represent Ireland at the World Ploughing Championships in Croatia on 4th and 5th September.

Both are well established on the international stage, with an outstanding record of achievement at World level. Eamonn is a six-time World Champion, while John is a four-time World Champion — a remarkable record for both competitors.

As they prepare to compete once again among the very best in the world, we wish Eamonn and John every success and hope they have a competition to be proud of.

The Irish team will also be supported in Croatia by Judge Harry Mallon and Coach Gary Simms both from Donegal Ploughing Association, who will play their part in supporting the Irish competitors throughout the competition.

Huge congratulations to Jer Coakley on winning 1st place in Switzerland at European ploughing Championships 2026🏆🇮🇪 A fantastic achievement and a testament to your skill, dedication and hard work.

A special congratulations also to Dan Donnelly on an outstanding 4th-place finish. Just missing out on the podium, but 4th place at European level is a remarkable achievement. Dan represented Ireland with great pride, skill and distinction. 👏🇮🇪

Well done to Jer, Dan, Enda and Kieran — you have done Ireland proud once again on the European stage. 🇮🇪☘️

We hope you all enjoyed the experience and made some great memories along the way. Congratulations to you all on an excellent achievement and a wonderful representation of Irish ploughing! 🏆🇮🇪☘️
