Big milestone for our portfolio company BOOKR Kids! 🚀

We are proud to back Dorka Horváth and her team as they close a €6.1M Series A round alongside 3TS Capital Partners.

Founded in Budapest, BOOKR has grown from a literacy startup into an international learning ecosystem serving more than 600,000 paying students across over 3,000 schools in more than 30 countries. This new funding will propel their next phase of global expansion and product innovation. 📚✨

Delivering on strategy: A successful asset deal for our portfolio company, Medres
International.

We are pleased to share that Medres has successfully executed a strategic asset sale of its
San Diego, Carlsbad-based Nitinol Design & Development Center to Quasar Medical, a major global player in minimally invasive medical devices.

To be clear on the transaction: Medres executed a strategic divestiture of its US facility, while Medres International continues operating its remaining core business independently. Building a world-class center around Nitinol—a unique nickel-titanium alloy renowned for its superelasticity and shape-memory properties, serving as a foundational technology for minimally invasive devices—is a massive milestone. Handing its stewardship to Quasar is the ultimate validation of what Medres created.

This success was driven by extraordinary engineering talent, including industry heavyweights like:
• Christine Trepanier (recognized leader in surface technology and former Medres COO)
• Craig Bonsignore (renowned MedTech innovator and Nitinol engineering expert)
• Tom Duerig (the visionary pioneer who originally introduced Nitinol to medical devices as the founder of NDC)

Importantly, Medres International moves forward with its original ownership, core expertise, and full operations completely intact. As CEO Dr. Chris Cheng noted, this strategic divestiture enables Medres to focus its energy and resources on the growth of its primary headquarters and core manufacturing facilities right here in Hungary. As for us at STRT Invest, we proudly remain on board! We are excited to continue supporting Dr. Chris Cheng and the entire Medres team as they double down on their
long-term European growth.
