When I first arrived in Dubai, my image of the city was that of a distant silhouette intertwined with sandstorms and bustling prosperity. It was the dazzling lights of exhibitions, the daily grind after opening the shop, and the street corners I walked through during promotional trips that gradually imbued this land in my heart with life, warmth, and an unforgettable, lingering fragrance.
From our first encounter at the exhibition booth, to the moment the shop curtain was lifted, to the unexpected greetings on the street corners, I met all sorts of fragrance enthusiasts. Some possessed a calm composure honed by years of experience, some harbored a pure love for fragrance, some were busy with business but never forgot to leave a touch of gentleness in their lives. We gathered because of fragrance, we got to know each other because of fragrance. There was no deliberate small talk, no awkward distance; it was as if we had been waiting for this encounter amidst countless scents.
Almost every meeting brought a delightful surprise. They would always carefully bring out their treasured possessions—whether it was a long-cherished, exquisitely scented agarwood essential oil, or a daily, subtly comforting fragrance—and offer them to me without reservation. At that moment, there was no ulterior motive, no formality, only the most genuine joy and sharing of fragrance.
Countless scents gently intertwined, collided, and blended at the tip of my nose. Crisp, warm, delicate, mellow—each wisp was etched into my memory, slowly nourishing my understanding. With each appreciation, my nose became more sensitive; my understanding of fragrance, my perception of scent, and my insights into life quietly enriched in these daily encounters. Even the winds of Dubai seemed to soften because of these aromas.
What began as a journey related to fragrance ultimately yielded a warmth far exceeding the scents themselves. Those I met through fragrance gradually transformed from casual enthusiasts into trusted clients, and through daily interaction and sincere interactions, they became friends who cared for each other in life. We share scents, and we share our innermost thoughts; we exchange ideas about incense, and we exchange ideas about life. Business dealings have gradually transformed into cherished memories; a recommendation, a greeting, a sharing—all have become the gentlest imprints on our lives.
My trip to Dubai was far more than just an experience of exhibiting, opening a shop, or doing on-the-ground promotion; it was a journey of connecting hearts through fragrance. I gained not only richer experience and knowledge, but also a group of like-minded, warm, and pure friends.
Like a gentle breeze leaving no trace, the fragrance lingers. Those I met in Dubai, those incenses we shared, those unreserved sharings—all have become the most precious treasures in my life's journey. In the years to come, wherever I am, whenever a delicate fragrance wafts by, I will remember that in that distant city, there was a fragrant encounter that softened the passage of time.
