Gambians in The Gambia cry over the depreciation of the GMD. ( Dalasi). Some Gambians in the Diaspora want to help the process.
If you want to run a business in the Forex industry, register it legally in your country of Tax residence. Offering higher rates beyond the rate range allowed, will only weaken our currency.
Any person or licensed Forex Bureau dealing with such an individual is also acting illegally since the partnership is not approved by the regulator.
On the hand, how many people use the formal sector for FX transactions? Very few. The majority goes to either Westfield or Bamboo currency hawkers including people in authority.
Scan the rates around and you will be shocked to know where we were last year and where we are today.
Stop pointing fingers at the bureaus but ask yourself where do I go if I need to change currency .
Weakened Dalasis = High price of products.
We are not China who intentionally keep their currency Weakened against foreign currencies to support their exports
industry .
