The 14 CITYs I Built Before I Turned 40
By Chancellor Gideon Titi-Ofei, Founder, University of Gold Coast
Introduction
Before I turned 40, I learned something simple but life-changing, I did not rise by chance, I rose by what I built. Life did not reward wishes, it rewarded wisdom, discipline, and deliberate growth. I did not wait for perfect conditions, I built capacity when pressure increased, I built velocity when time was short, and I built audacity when fear tried to stop me.
These 13 CITYs were not slogans to me, they were decisions I practiced, lessons I paid for, and values I refused to drop. They became my private curriculum for progress, my personal blueprint for becoming, and my proof that with God’s help, a man could rise, mature, and make impact. If you were building your life, do not just chase results, build these foundations, and your results would have a place to stand.
The 14 CITYs
1. CapaCITY – I built the strength, space, and skill in my life to carry more responsibility without breaking down.
2. VeloCITY – I learned to move fast and act early, and I did not wait for tomorrow to do what I could do today.
3. AudaCITY – I trained myself to be bold, and I faced fear and still took the step.
4. TenaCITY – I refused to quit, and I kept going until I finished what I started.
5. AuthentiCITY – I chose to be real, and I knew who I was, and I stood for what I believed.
6. SimpliCITY – I made complicated things simple, and I explained clearly, and I worked with ease.
7. SpecifiCITY – I became clear and precise, and I focused on what mattered most, and I said it plainly.
8. ProlifiCITY – I became productive, and I turned ideas into results, and I kept producing value.
9. VeraCITY – I committed to truth, and I became dependable, and I built a name people could trust.
10. ElastiCITY – I stayed flexible under pressure, and I adapted to change without losing my purpose.
11. PubliCITY – I became visible for the right reasons, and I showed up, and I added value, and I stayed relevant.
12. MultipliCITY – I expanded my vision, and I created many expressions of one purpose, and I kept growing.
13. FeliCITY – I chose to spread joy, and I made people smile, and I left a positive impact wherever I went.
14. ElectriCITY – I stayed fervent in the Spirit and powerful in prayer, and I carried God’s power wherever I went.
Conclusion
In the end, these CITYs did not just shape my journey, they shaped my spirit. They helped me carry more, move faster, stand bolder, and last longer. They kept me real, kept me clear, kept me fruitful, and kept me trusted. They taught me to bend without breaking, to shine without noise, and to multiply purpose without losing direction.
If there was one lesson I carried beyond 40, it was this, my future did not need my excuses, it needed my building. I did not become by talk, I became by training. And by the grace of God, what I built before 40 became the foundation of what I was sent to do after 40.
