In 2025, there are big changes coming to how Medicare prescription drug coverage works. Specifically, nobody will pay more than $2,000 out-of-pocket annually for medications that are covered by their Part D plan. This will mean tremendous savings for many who take expensive medications. There are only about two weeks left in Medicare's Open Enrollment Period (OEP). The OEP is different from the Annual Election Period that happens every Fall. The OEP is for people who already have a Medicare Advantage plan, but want to make a change. They can switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan, or they can go back to Original Medicare and add a Part D Prescription Drug Plan. They can also add a Medicare Supplement to their Original Medicare coverage if they qualify. March 31st is the deadline to make an changes, and the new plans would go into effect April 1.
