PACE is a community of parents and educators researching the power of playful, invitational learning environments. Our vision is of a network of Playful, Invitational Learning Environments that contribute towards a kinder, more peaceful world. We are a committed group of home-educating families, based out of Wrington, North Somerset. We believe in a future where all parents have meaningful choice
regarding the style of their children’s education and are research a new type of learning environment. We are establishing as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in autumn 2017 in order to run as an official business whilst being able to fundraise to further the development of our vision. Our purpose in coming together is to pool resources, support our children’s academic and emotional development, and pioneer an alternative model of education that reimagines the relationship between business, education and community. THURSDAY FAMILY DAY is open to new home-educating or flexischooling families who are looking for a more collaborative, playful, invitational learning environment. TIME and PLACE
The day runs from 10am until 4pm on Thursdays in term-time, and offers all the usual PACE experiences such as study groups, circle, snack, free-play, maker-space, activities, tidy up and reflection time. Situated in a beautiful and diverse natural setting, we have a range of spaces and rooms accessible to us. ACTIVITES
Scheduled optional activities currently include Maths study group, Fun Science class and computer programming. The art studio will also be open for use most Thursday afternoons. 1-2-1 music lessons (drumming, piano, guitar, ukulele) are on offer at an additional cost, where spaces are available. LEARNING DEVELOPMENT
Families will be given the opportunity to partner with the Educational Welfare Co-ordinator in developing individual learning processes for each child. Families with children attending the Monday facilitated day will be able to combine this (if they desire) with their individual plans developed with the facilitation team. CONTRIBUTIONS
We hope families will be able to contribute in other ways to the running of PACE. It is currently run by volunteers and there is a lot to do behind the scenes. On the day we ask that parents help with making snack, tidying up, and generally helping each other to care for the children on site and for the wonderful space and resources we have access to. Other contributions welcomed are involvement in quarterly volunteer work days and extra financial donations. COSTS
Costs are £8/family/day, plus £1/child/day for a healthy organic snack. For further info about Monday and Thursdays go to www.ourpace.co.uk
