For us, funeral directing has never been just a business.
When a family walks through our door, we know they are trusting us with someone who means the world to them , someone’s mum, dad, husband, wife, son, daughter, grandparent or best friend.
And we never forget the enormity of that trust.
Being an independent, family-run funeral director means there isn’t a large company sitting behind Hughes Funeral Directors.
It’s simply our family, caring for yours.
When you pick up the phone, you speak to us.
When your loved one comes into our care, we are here.
When you need reassurance, have a question or simply need someone to listen, we are here.
There are no targets telling us how much time we can spend with a family.
There isn’t a script telling us what a funeral should look like.
And there will never be a “one size fits all” approach to something as personal as saying goodbye.
We have the freedom to stop, listen and ask:
“What would be right for your family?”
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that matter most, taking extra time to make someone look just as their family remembers them, making sure their hair is right, playing their favourite music, accommodating another visit or simply sitting with someone who isn’t quite ready to say goodbye.
Those things might not appear on an invoice.
But to us, they’re some of the most important parts of what we do.
Our name is above the door, and behind that name is our family, our reputation and our promise that every person who comes into our care will be treated with the same dignity, tenderness and respect we would want for someone we love ourselves.
