The biggest compliment of my career came today.
The mortgage element of my job has always been the exciting part for me. But life insurance and protection? That’s the backbone — and the MOST important part of what I do.
That’s why, unlike many brokers, this is where I started. Learning and working for a life insurance provider gave me the best possible foundation for a career in financial services. It taught me early on that protecting people and their families when life takes an unexpected turn is where our work can have the greatest impact.
Today, a client told me that they will be forever in my debt, and that I am one of the very few people in the world they trust implicitly.
I will never forget that.
I have supported this client through some of the most obscenely upsetting circumstances imaginable. To hear her gratitude and thanks, particularly at such an incredibly difficult point in their lives, was genuinely overwhelming.
For me, this is what being a professional is ultimately about.
It’s not just about the mortgage, the rate, the lender or getting the deal over the line.
It’s about being there when people need you most.
To be able to shed a tear with a client, show genuine empathy, earn their trust, and know that the way you handled one of the hardest periods of their life has made a lasting difference — that is the greatest reward I could ever receive.
And there is an important reason I’m sharing this.
If you don’t currently have life insurance or protection in place — whether that’s for yourself, your partner or your family — please don’t put it off.
The only reason I was able to help this client in the way I did was because, previously, I had advised them on the importance of putting protection in place.
That advice mattered.
The policy mattered.
And ultimately, being prepared
Even if you already have protection in place, it’s worth reviewing it to make sure it still reflects your circumstances, your family and your financial commitments.
If you’d like to discuss it, please reach out.
Do you have sufficient family protection in place???
I’m more than happy to review your existing provisions or advise you on your options completely free of charge.
Many major life events can be the reason to trigger a life insurance review.
Growing mortgage, growing family, change in circumstances (and many more)
Sometimes the most important financial decision you make isn’t about what you can afford today.
It’s about making sure the people you love are protected if tomorrow looks very different.
