What a feeling 🤩

There’s nothing I love more than sitting down with a client to review the plan we’ve made… sticking it all into a cashflow report and seeing how they’ve moved retirement a step (or a lot of steps) closer.

Retirement planning doesn’t have to be boring… it can actually get pretty exciting when it’s planned right.

How’s your retirement looking? (If you don’t know, you should definitely look into finding out!).

Kicking the video off with a bit of irony…

But if you’re wondering what it’s about, here’s what you need to know:

From next April, the Cash ISA allowance is dropping from £20k per year to £12k per year (for people aged under 65).

The Stocks and Shares ISA allowance is remaining unchanged at £20k.

Some people might have tried to sneakily get around this by opening a Stocks & Shares ISA and keeping cash in it (you can do this and receive interest).

Now, obvs the government won’t allow this to happen, so if you do it… then your cash will be treated like other savings and the returns will be taxed in the same way.

So, simple fix - use a Stocks and Shares ISA for investing.

This can be a great way to grow your money in the medium to long term if you don’t need it.

Now of course this comes with risks that aren’t there when just using cash accounts, so either ensure you do your research or seek advice to ensure you get it right.

There is no need to try and find loopholes to keep your money earning a very basic rate of interest, instead consider the power of investing for making your money grow…

… and don’t get drawn in by scary headlines on social media (like this one… but obvs this one’s an exception 😉)

I haven’t posted all week but I had to come here to say this.

Sad about Maguire.

Sad that so many people are headed for a rubbish retire.

I’ll do what I can to help as many as possible… but please, if you’ve seen this, give it some thought and make sure you’re sorted.

What should you do?

Well, that depends on you and what your personal aims are, as well as your attitude to risk.

Mortgage rates vs. investment returns have heavily favoured investing for some time, but like all financial decisions, it should be carefully considered with advice where needed.

Always an interesting topic, what would you do?

Income protection is vital if you don’t have sick pay.

It keeps the money rolling in if you’re too unwell to work through illness or injury.

… and it doesn’t cost the earth.

If your income is your biggest asset, then creating some peace of mind that it’s protected should be on your agenda.

Is your money being left behind?

The rise in the cost of living means money that isn’t growing properly loses spending power.

Be purposeful about where you keep it. Money sat doing nothing is money that’s losing value.
