Just Another Manic Monday 😮

Today’s been a little hectic, to say the least, but completely worth it especially for World Ocean Day

As most rivers eventually make their way to the sea, it felt like the perfect day for a bit of river advocacy.

This morning I met up with Jennifer, Kev, Jo and Dylan for our usual Monday river work. It was great to have a proper tidy-up, and even better to put Dylan (a strong lad!) to good use tackling some of the heavier bits that have been bothering us for a bit.

We helped Jennifer deal with a rogue mattress, shifted what might be the heaviest corner chair on the planet, cleared a wooden pallet, and gave the area a good general clean.

After lunch, I recorded a piece about rivers and the work I do for the BBC Late Show. It’ll be out soon, and I’ll share the details when I can 🎬

Then I had the pleasure of chatting (perhaps rambling!) about all things water with residents at Old Norse Lodge Care Home, thanks to a kind invite from the wonderful Carol. I even got to speak in their cinema room, which was a treat. One lady fell asleep almost immediately… but woke up at the end applauding, so she’s forgiven 🤣
We also had a lively debate about whether it’s pronounced Scartho or Scaffa.

And now, I’m off to march a load of people through the countryside on my Monday wellbeing walk (fortunately I have Matt and Tony helping)
A perfect way to round off a busy day.

The BEST place to store my canoe 🛶

Only a few moons ago, this area was a monoculture of grass, with litter being the only biodiversity.

It's now blooming wonderful and well worth a visit 😊

5000 people and 1 billion paper cups ☺️

Please forgive me when I say this, but today we knocked it out the park (People's Park to be exact 🤣)

This is the second time weve had this team and we really got in our flow today, making sure litter and recycling was managed correctly ready for NELC to collect.

Our mission was supplemented by the hard work of Heidi Snell and Harriet and family who took it upon themselves to help litterpick.

So many events and gatherings suffer with litter, but a good team, commitment from stall holders and the general public make for a much easier ride.

Thanks to everyone who came to say hello, Tape2Tape Events for having faith in us and the Cleansing Dept of NELC for being on the ball ✨️
