What is Diabetic Macular oedema?

Diabetic macular oedema is different from diabetic retinopathy, although you can have both conditions.

Diabetic macular oedema occurs when fluid leaking from damaged blood vessels reaches the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp vision, causing swelling.

What to watch for: Diabetic Retinopathy symptoms

Diabetic retinopathy can develop for years without any symptoms.

Who is Noctura 400 suitable for?

Noctura 400 is suitable for adults with diabetic eye disease, at any stage, whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.

Noctura 400 can be used alongside standard treatment and may help reduce the need for, or frequency, of conventional treatment, such as injections or laser.

If you have diabetes, you're entitled to a free annual diabetic eye screening on the NHS, here's what that covers:

📸 Digital retinal photography to check for early signs of diabetic retinopathy
👁️ Screening from age 12, every year, for as long as you have diabetes
📋 A results letter within a few weeks, with a referral if any changes are found

It's separate from your regular opticians' eye test, and it's easy to miss if you're not expecting the invite.

If it's been over 12 months since your last one, it's worth checking with your GP practice. 💙

Food isn't the only thing that moves your blood sugar. Here are 5 things that catch people out:

😬 Stress and adrenaline
🤕 Illness or infection, even a minor cold
😴 Poor or disrupted sleep
☀️ Extreme heat or sunburn
💊 Some medications, including steroids

None of these are things you did wrong. Recognising them just makes the numbers easier to make sense of.
