This isn’t a photo of our founder Zöe - though it looks very much like her!
It’s her mum, next to my dad. 🥰
She was a teenager when she lost her to cancer.
As it’s the start of Dying Matters Week, just a reminder of why she does what she does and why it matters so much to her!
Her Mum didn’t have any life or health cover in place at all.
While she was poorly, dad stopped work to look after her. So not only was there the huge financial hit of losing his income, but they suddenly had all these extra costs to deal with too.
They were paying for supplements, alternative treatments, private treatment, hospital trips, even a trip to a clinic in Mexico and anything else that might help. At one point, there were things turning up in the post more or less every single day!
When they lost mum, dad was left with no business because he was self-employed and had lost customers as he hadn’t been working, and they’d wiped out all of their savings.
But he still had Zoe and her brother to look after, a mortgage that still needed paying, and all the other household bills that don’t just stop.
It was a devastating and awful position for her family to be in, and it was made so much worse by not having any cover in place.
She doesn’t do her job just to sell insurance. She does it because she’s so so passionate about the role it plays, because she’s seen first hand just how imporant it is.
If her mum had cover, that would’ve made the world of difference, and she’d hate for another family to be left in that position.
Life insurance. Your will. Lasting power of attorney. Just get them done. Ticked off the list. If anything happens, your family will be grateful for it.
