We found THIS in the middle of Shanghai… 😍🇨🇳

It honestly felt like stepping into a Chinese fairytale ✨

Ancient gardens, beautiful architecture, lanterns and winding little pathways — and then you walk out and you’re surrounded by one of the most futuristic cities in the world.

Shanghai really does have it all 🤯

We found THIS just outside Shanghai… 👀🇨🇳

A 1,700-year-old water town that looks like something straight out of a movie.

Ancient stone bridges. Tiny canals. Traditional houses. Boats drifting through the waterways. 🛶

And the best part? It’s less than an hour from the chaos of central Shanghai.

I thought leaving the UK 🇬🇧 for the second time would be easier… but it actually felt harder. ❤️

This time we knew exactly what we were leaving behind.

The birthdays, Christmases, celebrations and difficult moments with family. And I can’t lie, I felt guilty taking the kids away from their grandparents.

But we also knew what we were leaving behind in the UK.

Working constantly to keep up with the cost of living. Cleaning, cooking, washing, house maintenance… and feeling like there was so little time left to actually enjoy life together.

We realised we wanted more time, more freedom and more experiences as a family.

So here we are, doing it all again. 🌎✈️

It doesn’t mean we don’t miss home or the people we love.

Both things can be true. ❤️

If you’re new here, we’re a family of four travelling the world and world schooling our kids — come along for the adventure. 🌎

Would you ever choose this lifestyle for your family? 👇🏼

One of the biggest things we learnt from 7 months of travelling is that travelling full-time isn’t the same as being on holiday. 🌍

Last time, we definitely slipped into holiday mode — eating out, cocktails at sunset, constantly exploring and trying to squeeze everything into every day.

This time, we’re trying to find more of a balance.

We want to actually live this life, not feel like we’re permanently on holiday.

These are the things we learnt from our first 7 months — and what we’re changing this time around. 👉🏻❤️

What would you do differently if you were starting a year of travel again?

T-13 days… ✈️🌎

13 days until we leave the UK again on a one-way ticket to China 🇨🇳

The more we do this, the more we realise what we actually want from life.

Less stuff. More adventure.
Less routine. More freedom.
Less rushing. More time together.
Less “one day”. More “why not now?”

This life isn’t for everyone, but we’ve realised it’s very much for us. ❤️

So here’s to another chapter, another country and a whole lot more memories.

China, we’re coming for you. 🇨🇳✈️

And if you’re new here… welcome! 👋🏼
You’re joining us at a pretty exciting time. ❤️

Two weeks. 😳

In exactly 14 days, we’ll be leaving the UK 🇬🇧 again… this time on a ONE-WAY ticket to China 🇨🇳✈️

After 7 months of travelling, we came back to the UK for the summer ☀️ and somehow, it’s nearly time to leave again.

So here we go… another chapter of life as a family of four, world schooling our kids, travelling slowly, figuring things out as we go, and collecting memories along the way. ❤️

Over the next two weeks I’m going to share the chaos of getting ready to leave again — the packing, planning, homeschooling, things we’re nervous about, things we’re excited for and everything in between.

And then you’re coming to China with us. 🇨🇳

If you’re new here, welcome 👋🏼 We’re the Friends — a family of four choosing experiences over staying put.

Follow along… China starts in 14 days. ✈️🌏

July has been one of the hardest months I’ve had in a long time.

After spending seven months with my kids 24/7, I spent 19 days away from them 😢. I spent six days in hospital, had two surgeries back to back, countless IV drips and injections, and even an ambulance visit 🚑 . It wasn’t the July I had planned, or the one I imagined.

The thing that really made me stop and think, though, was when I posted my “July in 6 photos.”

Looking back at it, I realised it wasn’t my July at all.

It was six snapshots of the highlights, while the reality behind the scenes looked completely different.

And it made me ask myself… if I’m using this platform to document our family’s journey around the world, why am I only sharing the polished parts?

I’ve always believed social media should be more real than that. Especially now I have a teenage daughter. It’s so easy to scroll through perfect-looking feeds and believe everyone else is living the dream, when the truth is we all have struggles that rarely make it onto the grid.

The truth is, I find sharing personal things really difficult. I’m naturally quite a private person. Sharing our adventures feels easy. Sharing the hard days doesn’t.

But maybe that’s something I NEED to change.

Not because I want sympathy, but because I want this space to reflect real life—the incredible moments, the messy ones, and everything in between.

So… goodbye, July. You tested me in more ways than I expected.

Here’s to August. I’m hoping for healthier days, more smiles, more adventures, and making memories with the people I love most. ❤️ 1 month until we set off on our travels again ✈️ first stop China 🇨🇳 🤩
