Metfriendly

Metfriendly UK Police Family finance specialists, since 1893. Savings, investments and protection for serving, former and retired UK Police and their families.

Volunteers formed the Metropolitan Police Provident Association in 1893 mainly to help widows of colleagues, and retiring officers. In 1948 this became the Metropolitan Police Friendly Society. Since then we’ve been offering unique police-friendly financial products and services to serving and retired police officers, police staff and their families. Today we have grown to be a multi-million pound

organisation – but we STILL have our members interests at the heart of everything we do. Our friendly, expert team comprises experienced financial services professionals including actuaries and underwriters. But it’s our close relationship with the police service that helps us to provide a comprehensive range of savings, investments and protection products tailored to meet your needs. We know the ins and outs of the police pay system, pension scheme and political landscape. And we understand the risks you face and the worries your family deal with on a daily basis.

Getting more from your savings doesn't always mean doing more – sometimes it's about taking a few small steps.

DO YOU KNOW…

How your pay could change throughout your Police career?

Understanding the bigger picture can help you plan ahead with more confidence.

First job. First payslip.

For many new recruits, that first Police payslip can come as a bit of a surprise.

Between tax, National Insurance and pension contributions, it's not always obvious where everything is going, or why your take-home pay might look different to what you expected.

Taking some time early on to really understand your pay can help you feel more in control of your finances.

We've put together a simple guide to help explain it all ⬇️

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme this year is simple: take action.

That could mean starting a conversation, making time to switch off, or recognising when you might need support.

In a job that asks a lot of you, it's not just the role itself that can have an impact. For many in policing, finances play a part too.

Our own research shows that 56% of Officers and 52% of Staff say their financial situation has significantly affected their mental health.

Taking time to look after your mental health, in whatever way works for you, can really help.

Support is available from organisations like Police Care UK, a charity for serving and veteran Officers and Staff who have suffered physical or psychological harm as a result of policing ⬇️
