Is your current fixed-rate deal set to end in or before April 2027? 📆

We know you're probably thinking "it's too early" and that feels like ages away... 💭 But, the reality is that it'll be here before you know it! Making sure you're prepared and planning ahead of your remortgage reallly does make a huge difference!

Most mortgage offers are valid for 6 months, giving you time to lock in a rate, whilst still having the flexibility to switch if rates drop. 📉

Without a new deal in place, you'll automatically move to your lender's Standard Variable Rate (SVR). 😬 SVRs are typically much higher than fixed rates, which could mean significantly bigger monthly payments.

Protect you and your loved ones against the unexpected! 🛡️

Home insurance protects your home and its belongings. 📦 It covers the repairs and replacement costs for various events, including damages caused by fire, storms, flooding and theft. If your home is damaged or destroyed by any of these events, your insurance company will provide compensation to help cover the costs.

Buildings insurance is typically a requirement by lenders for homeowners who have a mortgage on their property, as it covers the structural elements of the home, such as the walls, roof, and foundations. 🏠 Whereas, contents insurance covers the items inside your home, such as clothes, gadgets, furniture and carpets, and isn't mandatory.

Many home insurance policies are customisable, meaning you can tailor the policy to meet your specific needs and add extra coverage where required. 🤝

"My mortgage deal doesn't end for another 6 months... do I really need to think about it yet?" 💬🤔

It may seem a little early, but planning ahead could make the process much easier (and potentially cheaper!) for you.

Most formal mortgage offers are valid for up to 6 months, so exploring your options from this point gives you time to lock in a rate, whilst still having the flexibility to switch to a better rate if market rates drop before your current deal officially ends. 📉

It's also important to keep in mind that, without a new deal lined up, you'll be automatically transferred onto your lenders Standard Variable Rate (SVR). 😬 SVRs are often known for being significantly higher than fixed-rate deals, and you could potentially face much higher monthly payments than you were used to.

🏦 Bank Rate held at 3.75%

The Bank of England (BoE) has held the base rate at 3.75% once again, with the vote split 6–3, with three members calling for a rise to 4%.

Inflation has also recently increased to 3.1%, above the Bank’s 2% target, with energy prices being a major factor. The BoE has warned that if the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to push energy prices higher, inflation could rise further - potentially increasing the need for future bank rate rises. 📈

What does this mean for mortgages? 📊❓
For those on fixed rates, there’s no immediate change. If your fixed rate is coming to an end shortly, there’s no need to panic. There are still plenty of mortgage options available, and we can help you understand what’s available and plan ahead, rather than making a rushed decision.

As always, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the market and keeping you updated. 🏡

A little extra each month? Why not put it towards your mortgage? 🏡

Overpaying your mortgage can be a great way to make a real dent in what you owe. Even if it’s not a huge amount, those extra payments could help you pay less interest and get you closer to being mortgage-free. 💷

Your lender may have limits on how much you can overpay, and depending on your mortgage, there could be charges for paying off too much too soon, but it’s always worth checking what your current mortgage allows and how much you could potentially save.

Want to see if overpaying could work for you? Get in touch and we'll help you crunch some numbers. 📉
