What an inspiring idea Sacred Heart RC Primary have here. I love seeing initiatives like this.

One of the biggest lessons we can teach children isn't just how to earn money, but how to manage it, invest it, take calculated risks and understand that money can be a tool to create opportunities.

Starting with just £5 and learning how to turn it into something more is a fantastic way to introduce real-life skills such as budgeting, marketing, teamwork, planning, problem solving and entrepreneurship.

Many of the concepts these Year 6 pupils will be learning over the next 7 weeks are the very same principles used by business owners, investors and financial planners every day.

Who knows, amongst these budding entrepreneurs there could be future accountants, business owners, designers, marketers, financial advisers... or even the next Alan Sugar! 💷📈

I can't wait to see what they come up with and which team manages to grow their £5 the furthest.

Good luck to all the Year 6 entrepreneurs. I have a feeling there may be some very creative business ideas heading our way over the next few weeks! 🚀

One of the biggest advantages of saving and investing for the next generations is time. As there is a longer time frame to save and invest, children and grandchildren can benefit from the power of compounding. This is where reinvested interest or growth has the potential to generate further growth over the long term.

You can generally contribute up to £2,880 per child every tax year into a personal pension. Basic rate tax relief of 20% is added automatically, taking the gross annual contribution to £3,600. Only a parent or legal guardian can open a pension for their children, but anyone can pay into it once it is set up.

How is it June already?! 😳

Honestly, where has this year gone?

It feels like Christmas was only a few weeks ago, and now we're nearly halfway through the year. Every January, we're full of good intentions, lose a bit of weight, spend more time with family, get organised, sort out our finances... and then life happens.

One thing I've learned over the years is that time has a habit of speeding up the older we get. The things we keep meaning to do "when we get a minute" have a habit of rolling over from one year to the next.

Whether it's retirement planning, helping the kids, updating a Will, or simply making sure you're still on track for the future you want, it's amazing how quickly another six months can disappear.

For now though, I'm still trying to get my head round how we're already in June!

So proud of this young man’s resilience and commitment.
Grey Sunday morning in February I was volunteering for the Burnley Junior Parkrun. I’d asked Race if he fancied running and he wasn’t bothered so to have him change his mind that morning and come along to Towneley Hall, Historic House, Art Gallery & Museum and run was incredible and real show of personal strength and support.
He ran brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It would have been so easy for him to have turned over and had a lie in on Sunday morning but he didn’t, he made the decision to do something new.
Let this be a life lesson to all of us. Do the things that scare you and that you put off for reasons only you know. Make a change for the positive, get in control. Make you better!
