Friday marked the successful completion of the first phase of O’Hara Bros’ 2026/27 Reading Resurfacing Programme.

Across the programme, our teams have successfully delivered resurfacing works to 17 roads across the borough, with each location presenting its own challenges.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, each scheme was assessed individually, with different asphalt materials and specifications selected to suit the requirements, traffic demands and conditions of each road.

Our delivery also went beyond resurfacing. Every scheme included the associated road markings and gully cleansing, allowing us to provide a complete package of works from start to finish.

The successful delivery of the programme has been a real team effort, bringing together our operational teams, client and supply chain to ensure each scheme was delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

While the first resurfacing phase is now complete, our work across Reading continues, with O’Hara Bros continuing to deliver road marking maintenance across the borough.

A great team effort and a strong start to the 2026/27 programme.

O’Hara Bros Surfacing Ltd are looking for an experienced HGV Class 2 Grab Driver to join our team based in Pinner, HA5.
We’re looking for someone with:
✅ Proven grab / HIAB experience
✅ Full Category C / Class 2 licence
✅ Valid Driver CPC & Digital Tacho Card
✅ Experience within construction, highways, surfacing or civils
✅ Good knowledge of Drivers’ Hours and vehicle checks
✅ A reliable, professional and safety-conscious attitude

The role involves operating a 32-tonne grab lorry, clearing sites, delivering materials, collecting aggregates/tarmac and working across our highway and civil engineering contracts.

📅 Alternate Saturdays

We are looking for an experienced grab driver who can hit the ground running, so previous grab / HIAB experience is essential.

O'Hara Bros Surfacing Ltd is a well-established and respected road surfacing company delivering highway maintenance and resurfacing works across London and the surrounding counties. We work on behalf of local authorities, principal contractors and major infrastructure projects, operating a modern fleet of over 30 vehicles including Scania tippers, grab lorries, low loaders and 7.5-tonne vehicles.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable and professional HGV Class 2 Tipper Driver to join our team.
The Role
You'll be driving one of our modern 32-tonne Scania tippers, working on a wide variety of projects including:
• Delivering asphalt directly into paving machines
• Transporting road planings and aggregates
• Supporting highway maintenance and resurfacing works
• Working alongside experienced surfacing crews
• Day and night shifts depending on operational requirements
No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys varied work rather than repetitive deliveries.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
• Holds a valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence
• Has a valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Has tipper experience (preferred but not essential)
• Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Takes pride in their vehicle and work
• Can work well as part of a team
• Is flexible when night or weekend work is required
If you have the right attitude, we're happy to provide training for the right candidate.
Hours
Day Shifts
• Monday to Friday
• Typically 6:30am – 5:00pm
Night Shifts
• Usually from 6:00pm (start times may vary depending on site requirements)
Alternate Saturdays available.
We operate fully within Drivers' Hours and Working Time regulations using digital tachographs, so this role is ideal for professional drivers looking for stable, compliant employment, not endless seven-day working weeks.

The deal is worth up to £100 million initially and could be worth up to £170 million if extended.

Understanding our operational carbon footprint has never been more important. We can’t improve what we can’t measure!

WE ARE RECRUITING

We are a successful, established civil engineering and surfacing contractor delivering high-quality highways and infrastructure projects across London and the South East. Due to sustained growth, we are looking for an experienced Site Civils supervisor to manage a long term contract in the Surrey area based from our Middlesex office.

THE ROLE

This is a hybrid role covering both site supervision and some office based planning. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations across civils projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and to the highest quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Site Supervision - Site activities across civils and asphalt works coordinating directly employed and subcontractors.
• Logistics & Planning - Coordinate labour, plant, and materials to meet programme requirements and project deadlines across multiple sites.
• Health & Safety - Ensure all works are carried out in line with health & safety regulations and company policies conducting toolbox talks, site briefings, and RAMS.
• Quality Control - Conduct site inspections and quality checks
• Communications - Liaise with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and local authorities along with your senior team.
• Reporting - Maintain accurate site records, reports, and progress updates along with identifying and resolving on-site issues efficiently.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in a supervisory role within civils and/or asphalt projects
• Strong knowledge of roadworks, surfacing, drainage, and general groundworks
• Valid SMSTS or SSSTS certification
• CSCS card (essential)
• Full UK driving licence
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple sites and work under pressure

DESIRABLE

• NRSWA qualification (Supervisor)
• First Aid at Work
• Experience working on highways or local authority frameworks
