Young European Radio Astronomers Conference 2011

Young European Radio Astronomers Conference 2011 The University of Manchester/Jodrell Bank Observatory, 18-20 July 2011

The Young European Radio Astronomers Conference (YERAC) welcomes graduate students and early-career researchers in radio astronomy from around Europe (and including 2 people from South Africa and 1 from America this year!) to gather once a year to discuss their research in front of their peers. For many of them, it is their first experience at a conference, much less presenting their work to other

s, so we try to create a relaxed, non-pressured atmosphere within which they can promote their research interests. Perhaps most importantly, it is an excellent opportunity for them to create research ties and form collaborations, many of which can last throughout their careers. The meeting takes place in a different European city every year, and this year, Manchester was selected. One of the days will involve a trip out to the Jodrell Bank Observatory, where we will spend the day. This day will include talks by established researchers involved in a wide array of research areas within radio astronomy. The meeting participants will also get a tour of the facilities, and have a conference dinner BBQ in the evening under the telescope.
