The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), who are the regulatory body in the UK, define Crowdfunding as this:

“Crowdfunding is a way which people, organisations and businesses (including business start-ups) can raise money through online portals (Crowdfunding platforms) to finance or re-finance their activities and enterprises.”

Crowdfunding is a fast growing way of injecting finance into projects

and start-ups that are looking for financial support for their activities. The growing popularity of emerging Crowdfunding platforms indicate that this industry is set for tremendous growth. Crowdfunding can be used for both start-up as well as established companies to implement their innovative and unique ideas if they offer benefits to a large enough ‘crowd’. This type of funding is a very strong alternative to the conventional ways of financing through banks and venture capitalists. Whilst Crowdfunding is still considered to be in its infancy, it is developing into a strong offering. It is likely to become one of the most viable and easiest routes to funding, for even unusual projects that may otherwise struggle to raise finance.

We are the Coggeshall Community Sports Association, a registered charity created to build and subsequently maintain a swimming pool in our village.

The pool's filtration plant is close to the end of its working life and must be replaced, but the funds we had set aside for that purpose had to be used instead for urgent and major repairs to our building. We have to raise the required funds to replace the plant before it becomes inoperable or our pool will close for good.

Our extra virgin olive oil is produced in Sicily from olives grown, harvested, and pressed locally, on the same day of picking, at a mill near the groves. The centenary olive trees are of the Nocellara Belice Valley cultivar, arguably one of the world’s finest varieties. Every year, the olives are harvested entirely by hand and collected early in the picking season when they are greener and not fully ripe; thus they yield a smaller quantity of oil, but the flavour is more intense.

A SUB-POSTMISTRESS has applied to take over West Linton’s post office but does not have £18,000 for the internal fit out, a meeting has been told.

Susan Meikle, who has managed Innerleithen’s sub-post office for six years, said that the Post Office Ltd is currently stripping the shop, which closed last Friday when Gillian and Calum Greenhow retired.

For the sub-post office to be reinstated, Ms Meikle has to show that she has the £18,000 required to modernise the property.

A sub-postmistress has applied to take over West Linton’s post office but does not have £18,000 for the internal fit out, a meeting has been told.
