This picture taken by my amazing friend captures the three primary themes of my art collection:
Behind me is one of the most complete and best-preserved prehistoric crocodilians ever found. It is an exceptional example of the Borealosuchus wilsoni, dating back to the Eocene, circa 50 million years ago. It was discovered in the state of Wyoming. Dinosaurs give me profound awe for how long life has already existed here on this planet, how many different and diverse species have roamed this place, and even ponder how many will roam it long after us. Life always finds a way. We humans represent just a tiny fraction of life on earth, but to be fair a pretty cool one. We should make the most out of our short existence.
To my left is a Mayan mushroom god, from the preclassic period, found in today’s Guatemala, and dated to the 1st millennium BC. I collect statues and cult objects from various ages and times which show that most religions – including Christianity – are in fact based on, and rooted in, psychedelic experiences.
And to my right is a 2,600-year-old vase, portraying what were commonly accepted versions of gay love in ancient Athens. The necklace I am wearing is a 2,100-year-old coin with the head of Alexander the Great, undoubtedly one of the coolest gay heroes ever (watch the current Netflix show, it’s great). Q***r people have always been here, throughout the ages, defining and shaping history.
A big shoutout to my art gallery for helping me curate the collection!
