We’ve just started consulting on an underground house in Yorkshire and whilst researching came across this beauty by in🇨🇭

The driver is in often planning-related on green belt, as our recent commission is. But benefits on energy use in this type of design are many - excellent insulation, air-tightness and thermal mass maximising solar gains ☀️

The ridiculously beautiful ‘Rainbow Tree’ tower in Cebu City, Philippines.

A huge 115m high timber is usefully adorned with 30,000 local plants for cooling, insulation and biodiversity.

This passive bio-climatism, combined with wind and solar energy create an extraordinarily natural and efficient building in an area mainly built from concrete and steel 👏🏼

Exceptional house we consulted on in Surrey with 😍

This exceptional home offset its carbon emissions using Ground Source Heat Pumps with vertical boreholes. It used best practice fabric standards and MVHR to reduce heat demand through passiv design.

Beautiful winning re-design for the ancient thermal baths in Aix-les-Bains dubbed the ‘form of waves’ 🇫🇷
It is a mixed use development, comprising of spa & baths, well-being retail and apartments, Utilising over 25,000 shrubs, trees and plants alongside Geothermal and solar power, creating more energy than it uses!
Negative emissions ✅
Increased biodiversity ✅
Nice on the eyes ✅
Don’t know about you but I fancy a bath here! 🛁

A sustainable refurbishment of old buildings can be both beautiful and efficient.
Reusing an old structure is incredibly carbon efficient, with much lower ‘embodied emissions’ than a new property, but it must be sealed and insulated properly to ensure it is as efficient in the future as a new property ⚡️
Aesthetically speaking though, houses like this are our favourites 😍

Imagine taking your boat into work down the Thames into central London 👌🏼Especially after stepping out of this beautiful design by our friends Dyer Grimes - We helped this one through planning, carrying out Lifecycle Carbon Assessment and London Plan compliant energy strategy, which minimised carbon emissions 50% beyond building regulations.
