I’ve been really impressed with the adidas flagships I’ve seen globally this year, and it hasn’t been because of any major shift or reaction to a notable trend - but simply about ex*****on and detail.

The Barcelona flagship was a perfect example.

The World Cup activation was great - like everywhere else it looked immaculate . But there were so many exceptional details, like a gamified selfie machine that was actually good (and intuitive).

Even more impressive were things like the tile pillar and the staircase.

The tiles were a mix of custom-made examples by local artisans and actual tiles recovered from homes in Barcelona. Such a beautiful concept and it looked incredible.

And the staircase used panels sourced from gymnasiums - with all the scars and legacy you’d expect that added so much character and nostalgia.

The boujie bakery trend is gathering pace everywhere - and maybe nowhere more than in Amsterdam.

ZERO ZERO is a beautiful, Italian oriented sandwich shop and bakery. And in keeping with global counterparts, there was a lot of space devoted to merch.

A few years ago it would have seemed odd to wear a baseball cap from a bakery. Now, somehow, it feels entirely normal.

The plant-packed in Vienna is a really delightful plantseller, gift shop and cafe.

Such a great space to hold a meeting or event, and brings a very different energy to central Vienna - an area dominated by heritage architecture and precise luxury retail.

Also, in a very good way, reminds me of the Kith Women cafe in New York - itself a collaboration with a local plant shop.

In short, fill your space with plants and people will leave happy.

Managed to pack in some store research on a recent project in Vienna - and there’s no city I’ve seen where heritage is more fiercely preserved.

From independents through to international giants like and , you’ve no choice but to work with the history.

And I’m biased, but strongly believe it makes for a much richer experience.

Always impressed with the inventiveness of VM and displays - so the quality of the “Frutteria” concept at is no surprise.

Lots of great small details that tend to make all the difference with the these sorts of activations.

Immaculately designed and merchandised .prague by our friends at

Thought put into every nook and cranny.

This was actually finished a few years ago, but it looks remarkably fresh today.
