CityMeetsTech Getting City investments into (tech) start-ups maybe in TechCity

The city wont invest in tech and we're hoping to change this and show that tech start-ups aren't all scary.

City Meets Tech is an initiative to get the City of London finance community to invest in technology startups. ‘Silicon Roundabout’ is only a half-mile away from Finsbury Square, but they are worlds apart and City Meets Tech aims to bridge the gap.

Applications are now open for the next pitch event on June 15th https://angel.co/city-meets-tech-cmt11/apply

You MUST have an AngleList profile and have a link to a THREE minute pitch video and pitch deck (10 pages or LESS)

You only get 3m to pitch and the deck should give enough information so that investors in the room want to arrange a further meeting with you. It's not to impress the organisers of CMT by giving swathes of information that is just going to make judging your entry difficult.

It's all about being concise so that you can get your points across in the time allocated (and you won't get through more than 10 pages in 3m).

Apply to on AngelList

NOTE – There are 2 pages to fill in and please read the notes next to each field. Do NOT cut and paste from Word (or other) documents, this really messes things up when downloading the form to process. Be as succinct as possible, the more you enter, the more everyone has to read.

Lessons(?) from the recent applications
1) READ THE INSTRUCTIONS

2) FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.

3) YOUR application is NOT more important than any of the other applicants.

4) When it says a pitch deck in Powerpoint or PDF, please supply one of those formats.

5) When it says the deck should be TEN slides or LESS, don't supply a 11/12/13/14/15/16/17 or 18 page deck

6) When it says please fill out all the fields, please don't put 0 or other random entries just so the form will be accepted by WuFoo.

7) Make your entries concise and succinct - the easier the form is to read, the more likely it will be read.

8) As per instructions, DON'T do wordy slides, they're hard to read and the audience can read faster than you can speak.

Now to process them all
