In 1983 "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" or as DJ's say "It's Time" was released on independent record label Cutting Records and DJ's worldwide quickly snagged it and

dubbed it an underground cult classic. Throughout the 80's, 90's and now 00's Hashim Music's sounds filled the walls and packed dance floors in nightclubs in U.S.A., Canada, U.K., France, The Netherlands, Germany, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and other nations. The songs crossed over from underground cult status to mainstream pop success. The worlds top DJ's at the time - Mark Kamins, Jellybean Benitez, Freddy Bastone, Benji Candelario, Aldo Marin, Paco, "The Animal", Chep Pettibone, Danny Tenaglia, David Morales, Timmy Regisford, Jay Strongman, Johnny Dynell and many others jammed Hashim Music's tunes. Eventually Dr. Dre, Tech N9Ne, Diplo, David Guetta, Fat Boy Slim, Rick Rubin, Dave Clarke, Johnny Vicious, DJ Q Bert, DJ Rafik, DJ Shiftee, Danny Howells, Little Louie Vega, The Latin Rascals, Omar Santana, Bad Boy Bill, Carl Cox, Ferry Corsten, Sasha, John Digweed, Jark Prongo, Scott Henry, Steve Porter, DJ Dan, Cash Money, and many others licensed Hashim Music's tunes.

HIGHLIGHTS

- Hashim's music is featured in Universal Music and Universal Pictures blockbuster film by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube "Straight Outta Comptom"
- HBO cable TV networks features Hashim's music in The Rock's (now cancelled) series "Ballers".
- ESPN sports network featured Hashim's music during the ESPY's
- Hashim's music appears on the popular dance music TV show "So You Think You Can Dance".
- In the U.S. Al-Naafiysh (The Soul) reached #43 on Billboards Dance Music Chart by 1984 - 85.
- The song became one of the most sought after, sampled and internationally played songs of the 80's, 90's and now throughout the 00's.
- It topped the charts in the U.K. as it appeared on Street Sounds/ Streetwave Records dance music compilations.
- In the U.S. the song appeared on Merv Griffin's Dance Fever hosted by Denny Terrio, when a male/ female dance duo used the song for 10 weeks to win week after week and eventually won that years Dance FeverTV show amateur dance competition.
- Al-Naafiysh (The Soul) sold well over 500,000 individual 12" units in the U.S. and an estimated 2.5 million units worldwide and appears on over 150+ licensing deals including popular video games and TV commercials.

Most of the Hashim Music catalog is considered Electro and HipHop classics by its fans. The music influenced many DJ's, entertained break-dancer's, poppers and clubber's around the globe. The company went on to publish other Hip Hop Electro-Funk tunes by artists such as the Imperial Brothers, High Fidelity Three and others.
