As as a "snapper up of unconsider'd trifles" I'm drawn to bright and unusual things, and also source fabulous illustrations and small bits of bric a brac. “unconsidered trifles” reflects the magpie collection of beautiful, interesting or unusual things that I sell in my Ebay shop. Autolycus, the pedlar in Shakespeare’s “Winter’s Tale” says he’s a “snapper-up of unconsider’d trifles”- so am I! I mo
stly sell beautiful fabrics (many are vintage Liberty Varuna wool) made into simple but lovely items, mainly shawls and scarves but also, on occasion, cushions, yardage and patchwork pieces. This is supplemented by other bits & pieces that take my fancy, often also textile inspired (such as pocket squares, buttons, books, knitting and sewing accessories, pictures, vintage fabrics and lace). My textile heritage- father a silk jacquard designer, grandfather a draper/haberdasher and my own work running a textile teaching workshop at the National Trust’s Quarry Bank Mill- has led to a lifelong obsession with textiles- and a very full house! I started making shawls and scarves from my stash- which still forms the backbone of my collection but I’ve also managed to source other wonderful often vintage fabrics. I have a great time scouring mills, warehouses and auctions looking for fabrics. Liberty’s Varuna Wool, mostly well over 20 years old, features in many of my shawls/scarves. There’s now very little of this left and I’m always on the lookout for new sources and for other high quality fabrics, both vintage and new. At present I mainly sell on ebay- through my shop “unconsidered trifles”. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/unconsideredtrifles But if you want something special, contact me and I’ll see what I can do!
