🗯️❌ We are excited to share that France has passed a new law requiring online platforms to delete hate speech! 🗯️❌
The new anti-hate speech law will require social media companies to remove hateful content from their platforms within 24 hours; this means that content containing hateful statements about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability and sexual harassment must be deleted within 24 hours of being reported by users, while content containing child sexual abuse or encouraging to terrorism must be deleted within one hour.
Failing to follow these new regulations could result in million euro fines, ensuring that social media companies will do their part to regulate abusive content on their platforms.
At SAFEonNET, we welcome the new law as it will empower and help victims of online harassment, cyberbullying and digital sexual violation.
