Our Directors’ Update Seminar aimed at company directors for small and medium size personal service companies is back this September. This interactive seminar is about creating awareness of company compliance, tax savings and running the company smoothly as a director and a shareholder. At the end of each seminar, there will be Q&A and opportunity to learn from other directors and shareholders.

The seminar will be held online via ZOOM as a series of events from Eventbrite with three dates to select from.

Cost for each seminar is £35 per participant.

If you are an employer, PAYE is something you need to operate as part of your payroll.

There are certain rules and regulations you need to follow to ensure you are compliant with HMRC. For example, if you run payroll yourself, you need to report the payments and deductions before each payday. If you use payroll software (which we recommend), this should calculate it for you.

For the second year running, HMRC is waiving late filing penalties on tax returns for one month as the Covid pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the capacity of agents.

HMRC has announced that self assessment taxpayers will get an extra month to file their tax returns without incurring a fine, although interest will still accrue.

The news comes as rising Covid cases have squeezed capacity levels of accountancy firms and taxpayers, with self isolation rules and sickness causing strain for many in meeting the 31 January deadline.

*Self-Assessment countdown*
The deadline for submitting your 2020-21 Self-Assessment tax returns online is 31 January 2022. You should also be aware that payment of any tax due should also be made by this date. This includes the payment of any balance of Self-Assessment liability for the 2020-21 plus the first payment on account due for the current 2021-22 tax year.
