Buying a house with a 2% deposit 👀

Santander have recently announced a ‘My First Mortgage’ product allowing deposits from 2% ‼️

For many potential buyers, building a deposit is one of the biggest challenges when getting onto the property ladder 🏡

Initiatives like this are designed to support those with smaller deposits, but what does it actually mean?

🟢 Whilst 2% is attractive, it’s a minimum £10k deposit,
🟢 First time buyers are only eligible,
🟢 Not available for any self-employed applicants,
🟢 The product is fixed for a 5 year period,
🟢 Maximum income multiplier of 4.45x salary.

Lender products and criteria are always evolving, which is why understanding the full picture is important 👍

The name The Mortgage Caddie comes from my love of golf. A good caddie doesn’t take the shot for you — they guide you, support you, and help you choose the right approach for the situation. That’s exactly how I see my role when working with clients 🤝

Utterly devastating to hear news stories like this one and my first thoughts are with their families at such a difficult time 😔

I think the important❗️message I want to get across is that you aren’t ‘invincible’ and whilst you may think it will never happen to you or a loved one, this is reality for some people 💔
