Când fluxul de numerar este reactiv într-o afacere, tot restul devine mai scump.

Soldul din bancă se strânge.
Descoperitul de cont este folosit tot mai des.
Plățile ajung să fie „gestionate”.

Dintr-o dată, toată lumea vorbește despre tăieri de costuri sau despre cm să forțeze mai mult vânzările.
Asta nu este management al cash flow-ului.

Banii aproape niciodată nu dispar peste noapte.
Ei se subțiază lent, prin decizii perfect rezonabile, luate fără intelegere a finantelor.

Cash flow-ul nu este rezultatul performanței bune.
Cash flow-ul nu este rezultatul creșterii vânzărilor.
Este rezultatul modului în care este proiectată afacerea.

Am văzut companii profitabile cu:
– vânzări puternice
– marje decente
– portofolii de comenzi în creștere

și totuși cu probleme serioase de cash.

Deoarece reșterea nu se transforma în bani, capitalul de lucru nu era controlat, investițiile nu își justificau costurile, iar finanțarea era structurată pentru comoditate, nu pentru realitate.

Problemele de cash sunt rareori probleme contabile.
Sunt probleme de leadership și de sisteme.

Există patru zone din business care decid, în tăcere, dacă banii se consolidează sau se erodează:

1. Operațiuni
Venitul nu înseamnă cash.
Dacă prețurile, mixul de clienți, ciclurile de vânzare și capacitatea nu sunt gândite să convertească rapid, creșterea pune presiune, nu ajută.

2. Capital de lucru
Fiecare zi în plus între plată și încasare este cash pe care l-ai împrumutat altcuiva.
Îmbunătățiri mici aici eliberează adesea mai mulți bani decât un credit nou.

3. Investiții
CapEx, tehnologie, angajări, achiziții.
Dacă nu aduc cash real, slăbesc afacerea.

4. Finanțare
Datoria prost structurată transformă firme sănătoase în firme stresate.
Finanțarea bună îți păstrează opțiunile înainte să ai nevoie de ele.

Businessurile solide nu ajung să „repare” cash-ul.
Ele îl proiectează la toate cele patru niveluri.

Știi că fluxul de numerar nu este gestionat dacă echipa de conducere nu poate explica clar:
– unde se creează banii
– unde sunt blocați
– ce decizii cresc, fără să fie evidente, dependența de finanțare

Construiește o afacere care nu te surprinde.

Dacă ți se pare util, dă un like, un comentariu sau distribuie mai departe.

O banană lipită de un perete s-a vândut cu peste 100.000 de dolari în 2019.
A fost revândută în 2024 unui antreprenor din crypto pentru 6,2 milioane de dolari.
Nebunie, nu?

Nu banana.
Nu banda adezivă.
Ideea.

Lucrarea lui Maurizio Cattelan, „Comedian”, a stârnit revoltă, râsete și neîncredere.
Oamenii se certau dacă este sau nu artă, în timp ce colecționarii plăteau discret sume cu șase cifre
(au existat 3 ediții limitate: 2 vândute, 1 donată).

Majoritatea a ratat esențialul.

Valoarea nu este creată de materiale, ci de poziționare, poveste, raritate și incredere.

A cumpărat cineva fructul?
Evident că nu, banana a fost mâncată de două ori în timpul prezentărilor.

Ce au cumpărat, de fapt:
– un concept
– un certificat
– dreptul de a face parte dintr-o poveste despre care vorbesc alții

Așa funcționează valoarea și în business.

În producție, majoritatea firmelor vând:
capacitate, utilaje, muncă, output.
Asta este banana.

Ce plătesc cu adevărat băncile, investitorii și cumpărătorii este:
predictibilitate, sisteme, logică decizională, execuție defensabilă.
Asta este structura din spatele businessului.

De aceea, două fabrici cu aceeași cifră de afaceri și aceleași echipamente pot avea:
evaluări diferite, condiții de finanțare diferite și niveluri complet diferite de stres pentru proprietar.

Dacă afacerea ta concurează doar pe:
preț, caracteristici, ore, efort…
vinzi banane, nu idei.

Valoarea reală apare când:
îți împachetezi expertiza, îți definești IP-ul și treci de la ce faci la de ce contează.

Dacă mâine fabrica ta (sau orice business) s-ar opri,
valoarea ar mai fi clară pentru altcineva?

Sau totul trăiește doar în capul tău, în relațiile tale și în deciziile zilnice?

Răspunsul la această întrebare îți spune dacă ai un business
sau doar… inventar.

They know how to use debt.

Most people don’t realise the difference between good debt and bad debt.

Take the classic example of Warren Buffett. He’s famous for saying he doesn’t like debt.
There are lots of quotes about this everywhere.

But if you look closer you will see that his companies carry over £100bn in debt.

But it’s debt that funds cash-flowing businesses.
Debt where the returns are higher than the repayments.
That’s the real playbook: watching what successful people do.

I’ve seen manufacturers finance a £2m packaging line with asset finance with repayments of ~£35k/month, extra capacity generating £70k/month profit.
Debt doubled their output without draining cash reserves.

Or a dental group acquiring a second practice with a £750k commercial loan. The new location added £400k EBITDA in year one.
Debt built their expansion plan.

This is how the wealthy grow, by using other lenders' money.
So how do you tell the difference?

Good Debt = Lenders' money
Cashflow > repayments
Interest often tax-deductible
Builds assets that appreciate or generate income
Ultimately paid back from the business, not your pocket

Example: Asset finance on machinery that pays for itself within 18 months.

Bad Debt = Your money
Costs more than it makes
No tax relief
Buys assets that fall in value
You’re the only one paying it back

Example: Personal loan for luxury refurbishments that add no revenue.

So before you agree to a loan, ask:

Will this asset generate more cashflow than the debt costs?

If yes, you’re using debt as a growth tool.
If no, you’re simply borrowing from your future self.

The difference between businesses that scale and those that stall often comes down to how well they understand this.

Wealthy people don’t avoid debt. They make it work for them.

AI is the future → Or maybe AI is just a tool, and like every tool, it will be replaced by the next big thing. Betting everything on AI might age just like betting everything on fax machines once did.

Property is the safest investment → Property feels safe because it's tangible, but markets crash, interest rates rise, and it’s far from liquid. Many fortunes have been lost in property bubbles.

Cash is king → Holding too much cash means inflation quietly eats it away. Instead of being “king,” cash can become the weakest soldier if it’s not put to work.

Who you know is more important than what you know → Connections can open doors, but without the knowledge and skills to deliver, those doors slam shut quickly. Networking without substance risks being just empty handshakes.

Everyone loves EBITDA—until it paints a picture that reality can’t match.

It’s simple, it’s versatile, but often hides more than it reveals.

Here’s what it doesn’t tell you:

✅ Taxes are real

they drain cash, even if EBITDA ignores them

✅ Debt doesn’t wait

you might hit your EBITDA targets but struggle to meet loan repayments

✅ CapEx matters

reinvesting in your business is critical, yet EBITDA skips this expense

I’ve seen many spreadsheets and balance sheets.

And this is how your business is telling its story.

You see, financial accounts are like novels.

Some are thrillers, some are mysteries, and others—well, they’re horror stories.

When I worked in the banking sector, I noticed a curious thing.

Many businesses overlook the red flags in their financials.

These aren’t just numbers on a page.

They’re signals, waving at you like a lifeguard trying to warn you of the incoming tide.

Here are a few whispers you should never ignore:

➡️ Sudden Changes in Revenue
↳ If your revenue looks like a rollercoaster, ask why.
