Picking long-stem broccoli is really back breaking work and tough on the hands for blisters. The team spend two or three hours every morning picking. Due to the drought this year, picking has been made harder because the long-stem just bends, it doesn't snap off. This makes the job much slower and more difficult. No body actually likes the job, but it's just something that has to be done to get the veg to the wholesalers and into our Veg Shed.

Some beautiful little hispi cabbages coming along nicely 👌 aka pointed cabbage or sweetheart cabbage. A really quick veggie to steam fry with a splash of oil, drop of water, garlic and pepper. Really quick, really tasty. Coming to our Veg Shed soon 👍

Think our long stem broccoli needs a round of applause to be looking this blooming amazing in a draught! It's had no irrigation whatsoever. We can only put it's survival and loveliness down to the beautiful thick layer of cow manure which all our veggies receive.

Cow dung is far superior to granular fertiliser in so many ways. It improves the structure of the soil, helps with moisture retention and is full of natural nutrients which our veg needs. It's an all round winner !

And thankfully, our cattle are constantly producing it !

Who wants to bother cooking when it's so glorious outside. No one wants to be indoors at the moment slaving over an even hotter stove. Yet we all need to eat , we like to eat well, but we don't want to spend ages fiddling about ! So, something we sell which ticks all the boxes is our Dexter Minute Steaks. These are just beautiful 👌. Melt in your mouth beef. Simply fry for one minute on each side and they're done 👍 Really easy. No cooking expertise needed. We love them in a quick stir fry with Terawhiti long stem broccoli and Terawhiti broccoli, but they'd be great in so many quick dishes. Treat yourself to a stay-at-home fakeaway. However you wish to serve them up, they're proper tasty and come very recommended by the Berryman fam ✔️
