South Hams Eco Developments We've put a lot of work into this scheme already, but it is not by any means the finished article as such. Any ideas and suggestions are also welcome!

We are currently involved in the planning process whereby we will be able to offer affordable building plots to individuals and families in the Kingsbridge area. At this stage, the details are not fully fledged, but we are attempting to deliver houses in a way that will make the genuinely affordable to the local community rather than just in name. At this stage, it would help us greatly if you can

post on our page to let us know if you'd be interested in such a scheme, and also to mention this to any friends or family who may also be interested. We are also keen for as much as possible of the work to be done by people in the local community, thereby keeping the money in the area rather than seeing it disappearing elsewhere. This will be a balance that has to be struck with buying

There will be an overall design for the scheme for the purposes of getting planning permission, although with the choice of how much of your self-build you do yourself to add value, and also how you lay out and specify the houses.

Apologies for the belated post. We were due to know the result of the South Hams District Council's planning committee on 21st December, but they have postponed this as they have not been able to complete their report in time.

As yet, we are waiting for a date to be confirmed in the New Year and will confirm as soon as we hear anything.

Obviously this delay is frustrating for all concerned and we hope that a new date can be scheduled swiftly.

Apart from that, we at SHED hope you all had a happy Christmas and have a brilliant New Year!

Seems like a good time for an update.

We attended the meeting of Kingsbridge Town Council on Tuesday, where the planning committee's recommendation was overturned and the full council recommended refusal for the development based on the information they had at that time.

At this stage, this remains an outline application, and we have provided everything that South Hams District Council have asked us to, but can understand that the Town Council would rather have more to make a judgement on.

We are busy working to provide as much information as we can at this stage, in order to reassure people as much as possible, however a lot of matters will form part of the detailed planning application.

We would like to stress that the Town Council's role in the planning process is as an advisory consultee, so their vote to recommend refusal to the application is not the end of the process by any means, although as we have had ongoing dialogue with them we would have liked to have had their support.

In short, please don't think that the front page of today's Gazette means that this is now over, as this is not the case.

The decision ultimately will be made by South Hams District Council in December, and the Town Council are one of many consultees in the process.

Those of you who are still interest in either the affordable or open market parts of the site, please keep an eye out as things progress, hopefully towards a favourable outcome.

At last some news! After what has seemed like ages with not much apparent going on, the revised plans have been submitted to South Hams District Council.

This part of the process may take around 13 weeks, but if anyone has any questions in the meantime please do get in touch.

As soon as the plans are available on the SHDC portal we will put a link to them on here too.

Thanks for your patience, hopefully it will all be worthwhile!

Thank you very much to all of you that came along yesterday, whether in support or to raise concerns, everyone's comments are very genuinely being taken on board and we're going through any comment sheets today. It was a long and tiring day but very worthwhile, and we do appreciate everyone taking the time to turn up.

For those of you that weren't able to make it but wanted to, hopefully the drawings below will give you an idea of what we had on display. We 're still keen to receive any comments, whether for, against or just general thoughts.
