🔒 It’s Cyber Awareness Month and we’ve had a close encounter of our own.

Recently, we came across a website with no connection to QMT Commercial that was using our FCA firm reference number. It was a reminder that a regulator number on a page doesn’t prove a business is genuine.

What struck us most was how convincing the site was. It was well written and professionally designed and at first glance it looked the part. But a closer look showed the warning signs:

❌ No physical address
❌ No landline number
❌ No real social media presence or content
❌ Regulatory footer pages that didn’t go anywhere

Any one of these could be an oversight. Together, they’re a pattern.

Before you buy insurance from anyone:

✅ Check the FCA Register at https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0z3Fz-0
✅ Make sure the name, address and phone number on the Register match the site in front of you
✅ Call the insurer directly, on a number you’ve found yourself, to confirm your policy exists
✅ Be wary of prices that look too good to be true
