We often find people have been paying a debt management company to help them out of debt., but you don't need to pay for quality debt advice. At Community Money Advice, our local centres never charge for their services.

Gussies Kitchen need your help please.
As many of you already know, we run entirely on volunteers at Gussies and at the moment we need more volunteers.
We have some roles which are needed as well as general volunteers on Tuesdays/ Wednesdays.
We need someone to look after the shelves on the shop floor and make sure stock is replenished at lunch time particularly. This will also entail helping customers find stock available.
We need someone to be in charge of the fruit and vegetable section to make sure everyone gets a fair share.
We desperately need drivers with vehicles who could go out in an evening and pick up spare food from supermarkets, this is a service that some of our stores offer to us. At the moment we are missing out on some collections due to lack of people to do it. The food would then be dropped off at Gussies Kitchen, there will be people there to receive it.
We also need volunteers to help on Tuesdays with our big deliveries and getting the shop ready for opening on a Wednesday.
On Wednesdays we need help with helping customers, chatting to them and other jobs that come up. We have sitting down jobs for people with mobility issues too.

Between October and December last year, on average every day:
16 people were made bankrupt
67 Debt Relief Orders were granted
234 IVAs were entered into

Many people are embarrassed about their debt. The stigma attached to it can prevent people from talking about it and from seeking help. At CMA, we never judge people.
