Dalesplay Dalesplay is open Monday- Friday 8am- 6pm all year around excluding bank holidays.

Dalesplay is Ofsted registered offering sessional, wrap around childcare, breakfast, after school and holiday workshops for children 0- 14 years old in the dales. Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating environment for your child to learn and develop in whilst making friends in a homely environment. We offer children 15 hours government funded places flexibly to meet your needs the term following your child's 3rd Birthday and offer childcare for all children aged 0-14 years

We have lots of fun in the ducklings room this week developing our fine motor skills; mark making and building.
We have been exploring the outdoors filling and emptying in the mud kitchen, counting the potion bottles and matching the same coloured lids to them.
We have been meeting lots of new Ducklings whom will be joining us next week, they have all settled in well and become familiar with their new environment and developing relationships with their key workers. At Dalesplay we ensure children take time to settle in with our free settling in sessions to ensure all their needs are met and create a safe, comforting environment for them to learn and grow within.

A lot of our play this week in the Sunshine’s has been based around the role play area that has been changed into a home corner. We have been cooking and cleaning, pe***ng out the washing and caring for the dolls. Washing them, dressing them and putting them to sleep.

We have played with the wooden wheels measuring and comparing our height. We thought about standing on our tiptoes to see if it made a difference to how tall we are against them.

It’s been the final week of the summer holidays and we’ve had such good fun seeing the school children here over the Summer.
We hope everyone settles into school well next week and good luck to all the new starters. This is your next chapter to learn and grow ⭐️📚✏️🙂

This week the ducklings have been getting creative with the paint. They made handprints to make a beautiful bouquet of flowers to take home and used Pom poms to paint with to decorate a lantern pot.
Outside play was good fun using the potion pots to mix up the foamy water then transferring it to the jugs to pour through the funnel and catch in the coloured containers 🏮💦💐

In the Sunshine’s room this week our activities have included practicing our physical skills in lots of different ways.
Using a knife to chop up peppers to make a lion rice cake and then outside balancing on the play equipment.

We have spent a lot of time playing with our new wooden blocks.
Thinking about what we can create and build using the different shapes to piece it together 🦁🫑🏰

This week in the ducklings room we have been developing our fine motor skills by using the pegs with birds on to pick up the pretend worms.
We have explored textures painting on the logs, painted little gnome fairies to put in the garden at home and made bee lanterns. We have done lots of mark making and had lots of fun joining in with sports day. ✍️🎨🪱🦅

It’s been another busy week in the Sunshine’s holiday club. The children having been busy creating with the magnetic shapes making a whole village and trying to create a maze. They have also built a den for the soft toys gathering different resources from around the setting.

Junk box modelling helped us practice our cutting skills and how to hold and carry the scissors safely.

Playing games with our friends, having fun and learning through play.

Today we held our sports day. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits and held it inside instead. We had an egg and spoon race, balancing bean bags race, passing the balls between our legs race and an obstacle course which included dressing up. What good fun we had together cheering each other along. After this we enjoyed a picnic lunch.
We noticed this afternoon that the rain had stopped so we went outside to have some running races. Great fun was had by us all and the children were thrilled to receive a medal 🥇 🏆🏃🏃‍♀️

The Dalesplay ladies have undertaken extra training to achieve the Dingley’s Promise mark of achievement!

Dingley’s promise mark of achievement is recognition for early years settings that demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practice, particularly for children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The staff have undergone training to ensure they are meeting the needs of children with SEND and helps them to provide the best learning opportunities for them whilst meeting their individual needs.
