What a week it’s been in the mortgage world! With lenders hiking rates and withdrawing deals with almost zero notice, timing became everything.

Honoured to be invited by Sesame to The British Mortgage Awards, an event that I truly look forward to each year.

I had the pleasure of meeting some brilliant minds from a variety of areas from core banking mortgage world to those leading the change in corporate finance and lending to, some real mortgage gurus!

I guess my little daughter was right in making sure my bowtie was perfectly set and my suit was crisp.. it was well worth it.

The enriching conversations, buzzing atmosphere and scrumptious food - a perfect mix for an incredible evening.

We wanted to inform you that a lender has made some changes recently to the treatment of properties with cladding, or where the cladding status is unknown.

In England, for properties in buildings that are five storeys or higher they will no longer require an External Wall System (EWS1) form in order to progress an application. They will also be able to consider applications on properties where cladding remediation work is required but not yet completed.

This only applies to buildings five stories or higher therefore EWS1 forms may still be required for buildings four storeys or lower and for properties in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. The surveyor will advise when an EWS1 form is required.
