Just one sketch on a napkin changed everything for one of my clients. 📝👇

Last year, I sat down with a client, let’s call them Mark and Sarah, who thought they were “doing OK” with money. They had a salary, a home, some savings and a pension. But when I asked them:

“Do you know how much you spend each month, what you own, and what you owe?”

They hesitated.

That’s when I drew this:

Earn | Spend
Own | Owe

Four boxes. No jargon. No complicated charts.

When we filled them in together income, costs, savings, debts, everything suddenly made sense. They could see whether they were building wealth, carrying risk, or falling behind without realising it.

And then I showed them the “Rule of 375”, a simple way to think about what you’ll need to retire comfortably. It’s not perfect, but it’s powerful.

👉 The result? Clarity. Control. Confidence.
