Stage to Page

Stage to Page Stage to Page is a bi-monthly event, staging three script-in-hand readings of brand new writing for the stage. WHAT HAPPENS AT STAGE TO PAGE?

Stage to Page is a bi-monthly new theatre writing event, hosted by an Industry expert, where extracts from three new plays are given a one-hour workshop with a professional director and actors, followed by a script-in-hand reading for a live audience. Each Stage to Page is led by a different Guest Host, drawn from Scotland’s leading theatre practitioners. It's a great opportunity for writers to be

actively involved in the workshop process, see their work being brought to life on stage for the first time, and receive invaluable, informed feedback from an industry expert, directors, actors and audiences. It's also a chance for actors to be part of the first staging of a brand new work. Writers submit extracts in advance. See main page and below for submission deadlines. Extracts are read anonymously by our Guest Host, and three are selected to receive a short one-hour workshop, followed by a rehearsed script-in-hand reading. ON THE NIGHT
6.30 Doors open, Registration opens, Actors suggest
themselves for casting
7.00 Event start: Introduction of Guest, casting of scenes
7.20 Scenes are developed for an hour in open rehearsals.
8.20 Tea-break
8.40 Rehearsed readings, followed by discussion and
feedback session with the audience, led by the Guest.
9.45 Networking, putting the world (and the theatre) to
rights…. HOW TO GET INVOLVED

WRITERS
- Submit a scene, maximum 5–10 minutes long, and include a short synopsis, character breakdown, title page and page numbers - all on the same document, please. NB please ensure your name is NOT included anywhere on your script. Submit typescript in standard font (eg Arial or Times Roman), 12pt, double-spaced. Max length is 7-8 pages, not including title page.
- Only one scene can be submitted per writer.
- Send submissions to: [email protected] by the deadline. Each Guest selects on their own criteria: what doesn't make the cut with one may very well do so with the next, so remember: 'tquitresubmit

Please note:
- Selected writers are expected to attend the event, unless exceptional circumstances prevail.
- Selected Writers cannot submit to the next event.
- Writers not selected can have their work automatically resubmitted for the next event. DIRECTORS
If you are a director interested in exploring new writing and would like to direct for Stage to Page, send your CV to: [email protected]. We recommend strongly that you attend an event first to get an idea of how the night works. Directors are contacted prior to the event, and will see their script in advance. ACTORS
Put your name forward on the night for roles suitable for you in terms of your playing range and age, by placing your name in the appropriate casting envelope: you may suggest yourself for more than one role. Scenes will be cast by the Guest Host, by pulling a name out of each envelope. OBSERVERS
Come along and observe the workshops, watch the readings and take part in the discussion. Stage to Page is a relaxed networking opportunity. DIARY

A huge thank you to all who braved the heatwave and came along to Stage to Page on Monday night. We had a brilliant selection of pieces, so thanks to our amazing Guest Host Flavia D'Avila for making those tough choices and lovely hosting on the night. We are so grateful to Brian Brady, Chris Colebrook and Laura Tansley for their interesting pieces and to our fabulous directors George Docherty, Una McDade and Colin McGowan who created magic in such a short time. This was of course made possible with our fantastic team of actors who stepped up and brought each piece to life! All of which couldn't be possible without our volunteer facilitators, lead this time by Calum Beaton - huge thanks to all of them too.

Thanks to everyone who came along to support our May event - next one is Monday 27th July (writer's deadline Monday 6th July at 5pm). Tickets available soon.

If you weren't selected this time - don't give up! Two of our selections this time were resubmissions, so don't forget our mantra -

See you in July!

And introducing our final writer for the month, Brian Brady, writer of “Monsters”.
Brian had been writing for many years, both stage plays and film scripts.

He’s currently working on an adult panto which he is hoping could go into production this year. He’s seldom happier than when he’s writing, and thinks STP provide great opportunities for writers.

And now for this month’s directors- Chris Colebrook’s “The Play of the Artist” will be directed by George Docherty.
George has been an actor for more than thirty years. His play “ The Angel
and The Manse” began life as an idea at S2P and went on to be a Play, Pie and Pint.
As an ex S2P facilitator, who has experienced the benefits of acting, directing and
having his scripts workshopped, he is extremely pleased to be back directing here.
