Great to be part of the Scotland Food & Drink Leadership Dinner in Edinburgh this week 👏

From global growth to the rise of AI, the evening sparked some brilliant discussion across the sector. Insight from Matthew Smith at Tayto Group highlighted the importance of staying true to core values while competing on a global

As June arrives, it marks one of the busiest and most varied times in Scotland’s farming calendar 🌾🐑

Across livestock farms, sheep shearing is well underway - a vital job as temperatures rise, helping keep animals comfortable and healthy. Alongside this, farmers are carrying out important treatments to support flock wellbeing, while spring-born calves continue to develop through key early stages.

For arable farmers, the focus is on maintaining momentum. Silaging continues, haymaking begins, and crops like potatoes are carefully irrigated to support strong, healthy growth ahead of the months to come.

It’s also the start of the summer show season, a highlight of the rural year. Shows and fairs bring communities together, offering a chance to showcase livestock, share knowledge and celebrate the industry before attention turns fully to harvest.

And beyond the fields, the countryside is coming into its own, with gardens and hedgerows full of early summer blooms 🌸

A busy, hands-on time, and a great reminder of the care, effort and expertise that goes into farming at every stage.

Applications are now open for the NFU Mutual 2026 Centenary Award – a fantastic opportunity for those looking to further their studies in agriculture.

Through the NFU Mutual Charitable Trust, this bursary scheme offers funding of up to 75% of course fees for postgraduate agricultural courses, including Master’s and PhD programmes!

We’d love to see applications from across Scotland – whether you’re part of the farming community, a member of SAYFC, or someone looking to take the next step in your agricultural career 🌾

🌿 A great day out at the Ayr County Show 2026! 🌿

On Saturday 9 May, the NFU Mutual Scotland team had a fantastic time at this year’s Ayr County Show, enjoying a brilliant day celebrating all things rural and local!

We were delighted to be involved in the tea and coffee marquee run by NFU Mutual Ayr and Stranraer , in tandem with NFU Scotland . Supported by colleagues from the NFU Mutual Regional Sales & Agency team, and with fantastic help from our Kilmarnock agency, the marquee provided a welcoming space to catch up with so many of our members, customers and familiar faces from across the local community. From friendly conversations to meaningful discussions about what matters most to rural Scotland, it was a real pleasure to connect with so many people throughout the day.

We were also pleased to host the RSABI Health Hut within the marquee, with the team offering valuable health information and advice for farmers — an important and well‑used resource that highlighted the value of prioritising wellbeing within our rural communities.

A huge thank you to all of the volunteers and colleagues who contributed to making the day such a success — especially everyone from the NFU Mutual Ayr and Stranraer agency, the NFU Mutual Kilmarnock agency, our Regional Sales & Agency team, and the dedicated volunteers from NFU Scotland. Your hard work and enthusiasm really helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere! ☕🤝

Thank you as well to everyone who stopped by to say hello. Events like this truly highlight the strength and spirit of our rural communities, and we’re proud to be right at the heart of them!

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week begins today 💚

At NFU Mutual, looking after people has always been at the heart of what we do. As a mutual organisation, we exist not just to protect livelihoods, but to support the health, resilience and wellbeing of the rural communities we serve.

Living and working in rural areas can be incredibly rewarding – but it can also bring unique pressures and isolation. That’s why this week matters. It’s a reminder to check in with one another, start conversations, and take small but meaningful actions to support mental wellbeing.

This year’s theme is Action – because awareness is important, but real change happens when we take steps together. Whether that’s reaching out to someone, asking for support yourself, or simply making space for an open conversation, every action counts.

This week, and always, we’re proud to stand beside our members, colleagues and communities across Scotland 💚

We’re delighted to be partnering up with Stirling Distillery for this year’s Scottish Game Fair, where they’ll be joining us to stock our Customer Showcase Bar 🍸

Founded in 2019 by Cameron and June McCann, Stirling Distillery is Scotland’s smallest distillery, nestled in the shadow of Stirling Castle. Built on a philosophy of small‑batch production, premium quality and a deep connection to local heritage, the distillery produces award‑winning spirits with a true sense of place.

Visitors to our stand will be able to enjoy Stirling Classic Gin, their signature serve crafted with six carefully chosen botanicals inspired by the Stirlingshire countryside. Fresh herbal notes, local nettles, basil and citrus peel balance bold juniper, creating a complex, peppery gin best served with Mediterranean tonic, fresh basil and an orange slice 🌿🍊

We’ll also be pouring Stirling Tropical – Triumph Gin Liqueur, made by blending Stirling Classic Gin with mango, passion fruit and pineapple. This vibrant, award‑winning liqueur is perfectly moreish and makes an ideal summer serve over ice with Mediterranean tonic, finished with an orange slice ☀️✨

Alongside their gins, Stirling Distillery also produces a bold Spiced Rum, inspired by the Scottish legend of the Baobhan Sith. With notes of orange peel, rich spiced fruit cake and a warming chilli finish, it’s a fiery spirit that pairs beautifully with cola, ginger beer or ale 🔥
