As another busy agricultural show season draws to a close, weโ€™d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited us, spoke with our teams and made this yearโ€™s events such a success!

This years agricultural show season has provided us with the fantastic opportunity to connect with farmers, rural businesses, customers and communities from every corner of Scotland.

These events are at the heart of rural Scotland, and weโ€™re proud to play our part in supporting the people, businesses and organisations that help our countryside thrive. Whether we were welcoming visitors to our stands, celebrating Scottish agriculture, supporting young people entering the industry, or catching up with familiar faces, every conversation reinforced the strength and resilience of Scotlandโ€™s rural communities.

A special thank you goes to our agency teams, partners and event organisers whose hard work and enthusiasm helped make each show memorable.

As we look back on another fantastic season, weโ€™re grateful for the warm welcome we receive wherever we go and look forward to continuing to support rural Scotland throughout the year!

Agency Giving Fund 2026 Spotlight

Across Scotland, NFU Mutual agencies are once again supporting incredible local causes through the Agency Giving Fund 2026. Our Agency Giving Fund is an annual initiative that empowers local agencies to nominate frontline charities in their communities to receive a share of NFU Mutual's charitable funding, helping support vital local services and strengthen rural communities.

NFU Mutual Strathaven, Lanark and Bearsden has chosen to support Maggie's Lanarkshire, a charity-run cancer support centre providing free practical, emotional and psychological support to people living with cancer and their families and carers; Women's Aid South Lanarkshire & East Renfrewshire, which offers specialist support and refuge services to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse; and East Dunbartonshire Foodbank, which provides emergency food and practical support to local people experiencing financial hardship

NFU Mutual Edinburgh & The Lothians have selected YouthSpace Linlithgow, a community charity dedicated to supporting young people through opportunities, activities and services that help build confidence, resilience and wellbeing.

NFU Mutual Ayr and Stranraer have chosen Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes, a volunteer-led charity that provides a free out-of-hours medical transport service, delivering vital NHS supplies, samples and medications across the region.

NFU Mutual Borders The Mark Williams Foundation, which works to raise awareness of men's mental health and su***de prevention, alongside Borders Children's Charity, which supports disadvantaged children and young people across the Scottish Borders by helping them access opportunities and experiences that might otherwise be out of reach.

NFU Mutual Perth have chosen to support Maggie's Dundee, a charity which provides assistance to people affected by cancer, as well as their families and friends, helping them navigate some of life's most challenging circumstances.

We are incredibly proud to support these outstanding organisations and the invaluable work they do within their local communities. Through the Agency Giving Fund, we are helping ensure that charities delivering vital services across Scotland can continue making a positive and lasting difference to the lives of those who need them most.

๐ŸŒพ Reflecting on a fantastic 2026 Black Isle Show ๐ŸŒพ

As another successful Black Isle Show comes to a close, we'd like to thank everyone who visited the NFU Mutual & NFU Scotland stand over the two days in Muir of Ord.

The Black Isle Show is always a highlight of the agricultural calendar, bringing together farming businesses, rural communities, industry partners and the next generation of agricultural talent from across the Highlands and Islands. It was a pleasure to catch up with customers, members and friends old and new, whilst celebrating everything that makes Scotland's rural communities so resilient and vibrant.

A special thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success, including our Agency teams from NFU Mutual Dingwall & Thurso and NFU Mutual Inverness and Elgin , colleagues, organisers, exhibitors and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

We leave the Show inspired by the passion, innovation and community spirit on display throughout the week, and we're already looking forward to returning next year.

๐Ÿ“ธ Take a look through some of our favourite moments from the 2026 Black Isle Show.

๐ŸŒฑ What's in season this August?

August is one of the most abundant months in the UK growing calendar, with a wide variety of fruit and vegetables reaching their peak. From colourful tomatoes and sweetcorn to juicy berries and plums, it's a great time to enjoy fresh, seasonal produce grown closer to home.

Some of the standout ingredients to look out for this month include:
๐Ÿ… Tomatoes
๐ŸŒฝ Sweetcorn
๐Ÿฅ’ Cucumbers
๐Ÿ‘ Plums

Many heat-loving crops, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and chillies, are at their very best during August, while British berries continue to provide plenty of seasonal flavour for desserts, breakfasts and snacks.
And if you're a keen gardener, August isn't just about harvesting. It's also a great time to sow crops for the months ahead. Lettuce, rocket, spinach, parsley, and pak choi can all be planted now, helping to keep home-grown produce on the menu well into autumn.

Choosing seasonal produce is a great way to enjoy food at its freshest while supporting British growers and making the most of what's being harvested across the UK.
