This last 2 weeks has been very strange. Leading upto Easter would be quite busy as normally a bank holiday everyone's looking forward for with longer days and better weather. The scent of shrubs and flowers floating through the air, but unusually quiet. Not a bad thing that in itself, but it's not a real relaxed feel. People are more on edge, not real calm. I have said I will go out if people are in trouble, no water, or hot water, but with the dangers with this virus I don't mind not going out. Customers obviously feel edgy about it because they are not asking me to go out either. I do wonder whether we shall slow up a bit because it does show some things are not as urgent as we sometimes feel?

If you are visiting our page about plumbing etc please take a moment to sign the Save Batang Toru and the Rarest Ape in the World petition. It is bad enough that the palm oil plantations have taken so much of the orangutans forests without a dam flooding even more and putting the last of the Tapanuli orangutan species to extinction.
Thank you.

Well here is a picture of where it all started, or should I say finished some 34 years ago!! It was in Redruth Skillcenter. The course was brilliant and the instructor was second to none. I would not done as well without him at the helm. I had finished my 1st part of my training. After that you took your advanced craft certificate which I took in Exeter College. What seems very strange is that I don't feel any older than 34... Come to think of it...I think they called it play school!!

I am writing to inform any people buying a new house or living in a new house to get the installation checked.
The installation of heating systems in a new build property do not comply with Building Regulations. Although this has been pointed out to the boiler manufacturers Ideal, the builders David Wilson Homes and the plumbing firm Barkwells of Okehampton nothing has been done.... Well you could say something was done. The compliance manager from Ideal boilers made a visit... Why is he called the compliance manager I can hear you say? Well he makes thing comply...if of course you buy enough boilers...of course site installations. Now to make things comply with the Building regulations you have to install a boiler following installation instructions and British Standards.. Now the installation instructions refer to the BS (British Standards) throughout there instructions.
Hopefully one can follow this.... now as this has not been followed the compliance manager uses his power not to upset the builders and plumbers....can't ask them to put right the hundreds or thousands of installations... to say the wording is not correct in the BS... How I can hear you say...Well the word shall is being given a slightly different meaning...When it says the pressure relief valve "shall be fitted as close to the top of the in the flow pipe with no intervening valve of restriction" it does not mean that...shall now means "may" according to Ideal's compliance manager... He goes on to say that it should say "must" if you have to do it....That means a lot of corrections to be made on the BS... if one thinks they should get away with that...There is one last thing the compliance manager forgot to comply with....In Ideal's own installation instructions they had already changed the wording to "must" so he has shot himself in the foot because he had enforced the installation to comply with the standards!!!!... OPPS Mr Dexter!! How can you make that comply!
