Inflation has now toppled over 10% and is looking to reach 13% by the end of the year! 🫣🤯

This is a very worrying time for many families who are already struggling with the cost of living but could there be some good news amongst the clouds for home buyers and investors?

Bank of England interest rates increasing is a means to try and halt inflation but in the process, it makes it harder for people to afford mortgages and therefore has a knock on effect on the housing market.

Consequently, with less competition, we could start to see the housing market finally slowing down and even falling, so if you’re considering buying or investing in property, you might want to hang tight a few months to see how this pans out.

There was an overall increase of 2.3% between June and July in the price of food and non-alcoholic drinks

Lots of viewings this week. This one caught our attention more than any but for all the wrong reasons!
I’m no builder but I’m pretty confident this loft extension has not passed building regs! Had the 2 apprentices with me for this one today! Safe to say we will not be offering on this one.

The power of the mind and how we can use it to our advantage...

I'm halfway through reading "Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss and today I tried a little experiment based on a tip from the book. It's like some kind of mind magic - but it actually worked!

Voss talks about how frustrating it is when people "ghost" you and what you can do about it. Ghosting is when people just ignore your emails or say they'll call you back/get back to you but they never do.

I have been trying to arrange to meet with an influential contact for several weeks to get a date in the diary and my last two emails have not had any response.

Today I emailed and my first line was, "have you forgotten about me?" followed up with some pleasantries and a call to action (can we finalise a date?)

To my shock within 5 minutes, he was calling me and the date was in the diary!

Powerful stuff!

I found the perfect buy to let property last week. Waited 6 days to speak to my mortgage advisor before arranging a viewing and now it looks like it has sold! 😢

Moral of the story… don’t wait. Make your move as soon as an opportunity is presented and just go for it. 💪🏼

Lesson learned, we will keep searching. 🤓🏡

Little DIY project in our spare room that I’ve been working on in my “spare” time. (Hence why it’s taken over a month!)

We removed the built in wardrobe and all the wallpaper, replastered the whole room (including the delightful artex on the ceiling), redecorated and made good the coving and skirting.

Note to self, coving is evil and should not be attempted by anyone other than a trained professional.

Think I might put it on Air BnB now, what do u reckon? 😉
