Do i need a bookkeeper, an accountant or both?
This is a question many business owners ask.
A profitable business needs both. However those that are self employed may only need a qualified bookkeeper.
A bookkeeper handles all your daily financial work and brings the accounts up to a high standard of detail and accuracy. They help businesses keep their finances on track with real time information, and the production of cash flow, profit and loss statements and other reports.
For those that are self employed a professional bookkeeper can also prepare check and file your self assessment tax return.
If you have a limited company you will also require the services of an accountant. An accountant will use the information in the accounts to analyse financial data in more depth, prepare a companies year end accounts and file their tax return. The will also provide high level business advisory services.
