Welcome to our page heres a description of what we are all about.

The Chris Lewis Award was established following the death of Chris Lewis in September 2007. Chris was a much-loved Norfolk farmer, who always made time to help others, especially supporting young people. His special interest was in the livestock sector, particularly pedigree sheep breeding.

Who should apply

The award is to help and encourage a young person in an agricultural pursuit. The applicant should be 30 years or under at the time of application and should have been a resident in Norfolk for the last 5 years.
Applicants may either be currently active in a livestock agricultural venture or looking to establish a new enterprise in this sector.
The award is valued up to £12,000 and may be spent on studying, accommodation, travelling, tuition fees, training, an apprenticeship or in any way which fits the criteria.
There will be an emphasis on practical farming, within any form of livestock production or associated business.

Notes for applicants

💥The 2023 Award is up to £12,000. The 1st £6,000 will be presented on the announcement of the winner in Spring 2023 and the 2nd £6,000 at the Annual Meeting of The Norfolk Farmers Trust (Spring 2024) at which time the winner is expected to give a progress report.

💥The aim of the Award is to support and encourage a project for up to two years which can involve any form of livestock production or an associated business of a practical nature. Applicants must show how, by winning the award, they would also benefit other people in Norfolk.

💥Applicants must be 30 or under on 1st March 2023 in the year of application and have lived

💥Applicants who have applied in previous years are still able to apply so long as they are still below 30 on 1st March.

💥Applicants must be prepared to give an interim/final report as appropriate to the Trust (assistance can be given with this if necessary).

💥Completed application forms should be returned to Roger Long, Hillfield, Scarning, Dereham, Norfolk. NR19 2PU or by email [email protected] by 1st April 2023. Late applications will not be accepted.
