Two very different cars. Two very different finance conversations.

The McLaren 720S and the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 are both exceptional performance cars, but when it comes to finance, they sit in quite different territory and understanding those differences matters.

McLaren 720S:

A high-value, low-volume supercar with strong residual interest from specialist lenders. Clean examples in the UK are currently sitting in the £130,000 to £180,000 range, and the 720S attracts lenders who understand the asset. Finance structures at this level are built around larger deposits, competitive rates and balloon payments that reflect the car's retained value. Lease Purchase works particularly well here.

Porsche 718 GT4:

A more accessible but equally serious performance car, sitting in a price bracket where P*P and HP arrangements are more commonly used. The GT4 has strong residual values within the Porsche range, which lenders respond well to, often resulting in competitive monthly payment structures relative to its purchase price.

Modern classic car finance is one of the most overlooked areas of what we do at RJStamford, and it is a growing part of our work.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage is a perfect example of why this matters. Built between 2009 and 2018, just 1,199 examples of the original V12 Vantage were produced, making it rarer than a Ferrari F40. It was the last Aston Martin to combine a naturally aspirated V12 with a manual gearbox in a small, lightweight sports car body. That combination no longer exists anywhere in production today.

Hagerty has long flagged the V12 Vantage as a future classic, and the market is beginning to catch up. Clean, well-specified examples in the UK are now sitting comfortably in the £70,000 to £150,000 range depending on specification and variant, with the rarer manual cars commanding a premium. Those who acquired at the bottom of the market have already seen meaningful movement.

UK retail asking prices for clean examples are now sitting around £180,000 to £200,000, with the strongest examples pushing well beyond that. Those who bought during the correction period have seen meaningful appreciation in a relatively short window.

The reasoning is straightforward. The 458 Spider is the last naturally aspirated mid-engine Ferrari convertible. Ferrari will never build another car like it. Collectors know this, and the market reflects it.
