My first visit to the BIBA Conference 2026 and what a couple of days it’s been.

I went into the conference with 3 key objectives… and I’m pleased to say every single one was achieved ✔️

The biggest takeaway for me has been the quality of the conversations. Constructive discussions, new opportunities, and time spent strengthening relationships with our insurance partners as we continue to build something exciting here at Konsileo.

It was also great to hear the positivity around the direction we are heading in and to firm up plans for the future with partners who share the same ambition and values.

From a standing start just a short time ago, to walking the floor at BIBA having meaningful conversations about growth, collaboration and the future of rural insurance — it’s been a proud moment.

Now it’s time to take the momentum from Manchester back into the farms, businesses and communities we’re proud to support across Mid Wales, Shropshire and beyond.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with me over the last few days. Exciting times ahead.

🚀 New Addition to the Team

Following a fantastic start to the year, we’ve accelerated our plans to grow, ensuring our clients have the support, expertise, and presence they need, exactly when they need it.

We’re delighted to welcome Karen Hall to the team, who joins us from today.

Karen will play a key role across administration, accounts, and underwriting support, further strengthening the service we deliver to our clients and insurer partners.

A bit about Karen:

With over 30 years’ experience in the insurance sector, Karen brings a wealth of knowledge across underwriting, broking, and operations.

She began her career with NFU Mutual, gaining experience across multiple classes of business and departments, before moving into underwriting with AIUA, where she specialised in Farm Combined and Motor Fleet risks.

After 12 years in underwriting, Karen transitioned into broking in 2010 with The Insurance Partnership in York, supporting clients and colleagues through its evolution into Jelf and later Marsh.

In 2021, she joined Towergate (now Everywhen) as Regional Operations Manager, focusing on operational delivery and compliance, before joining Konsileo in March 2026.

We’re absolutely delighted to have Karen on board—her experience and energy will be a huge asset as we continue to build momentum.

Today we reviewed our Q1 performance… and it’s safe to say the momentum is building.

From day one to now, we’re approaching £250,000 of premium through the books with more already lined up for the months ahead.

Where the real value lies is understanding the risks, being present, and delivering for clients when it matters.

None of this happens without the right people.

🚨 14.2 tonnes of illegal meat seized in a single week.

We’ve had years to prepare for this.

Years.

And yet here we are — still seeing volumes like this getting through, followed by the same excuses… and the same blame game.

This isn’t political.
This is about protecting UK agriculture.

Because once it’s in… it’s in.

And by that point:
• The risk to livestock is already here
• The damage can already be done
• And the cost to farmers can be devastating

We all know what’s at stake — disease, movement restrictions, farms shut down overnight.

So the real question is:

👉 When does preparation turn into action?
👉 And how much risk are we willing to carry until it does?

Enough talking. This needs sorting.

No mention of food security in the Chancellor’s statement this evening.

For those of us working closely with farmers and rural businesses across Shropshire & Mid Wales, that silence matters.

Food production isn’t just an industry — it’s national infrastructure. It underpins jobs, supply chains, exports, and the resilience of our rural communities.

Farm businesses are already navigating rising input costs, tax uncertainty, labour pressures and increasingly complex risk. A clear commitment to long-term food security would provide confidence — not just for farmers, but for insurers, lenders and investors too.
