Thinking of Donating to Charity Through Your Business? Here’s Some Accounting Advice:

1. Tax Deductible Donations: Donations to registered charities are tax-deductible for limited companies. This reduces your corporation tax bill while supporting good causes.
2. Donations in Kind: You can also donate goods, equipment, or services, which may be eligible for tax relief.
3. Sponsorship Costs: Sponsoring an event like we are can be claimed as a business expense, provided it’s promoting your company.
4. Keep Records: Always keep records of your donations for accurate accounting and tax claims.

Let’s make a difference together!

Key April Dates -

5th - close of 23/24 tax year
6th - start of 24/25 tax year
7th - filing & payment deadline for VAT returns with the period ending 29th Feb
19th - deadline for filing of CIS return
22nd - payment of any paye/ni/cis due
30th - accounts & CT600 filing deadline for companies with a year end of 30th July

Some 'quick wins' before the end of the current tax year;

🌼 ISA -
Top up your ISA (£20k allowance per year) this includes cash ISA, stock & share ISA or LISA.

🌼 Junior ISA -
If you have children, they are entitled to a Junior ISA allowance of £9,000 per year. So as above, you could make use of this to provide them with some financial help when they turn 18

🌼 Dividends -
The tax free allowance for the 23/24 year is £1,000 (due to reduce to £500 for tax year 24/25) So if you haven't already utilised this and have invested assets, then do so now.

🌼 Pension contributions -
Contribute into your pension an amount up to your 'relevant earnings' (maximum £60k) Any contribution (subject to net relevant earnings restrictions) provides you with tax relief at your marginal rate

🌼 Capital Gains -
The current tax free allowance is £6,000 (due to reduce to £3,000 in 24/25) so if you have some gains that could be realised, it would be worth making the most of the increased allowance

If any of the above apply to you, then act quick as the current tax year ends on 5th April...
