Have you missed the first Making Tax Digital deadline? 😬
If your answer is “possibly… I’ve been trying not to think about it”, this one’s for you.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax started in April for the first group of sole traders and landlords, and the first quarterly update deadline has now passed.
But if you should be using MTD and haven’t got everything sorted yet, don’t panic and don’t keep putting it off.
The good news is that HMRC won’t issue penalty points for late quarterly updates during the first year of mandatory MTD. You do, however, still need to get your digital records up to date and submit the information required.
And there’s another reason September is a good time to sort it: HMRC is now starting to sign up people who should already be using MTD but haven't signed themselves up.
I've written a new blog explaining:
💜 Who should already be using MTD
💜 What to do if you missed the August deadline
💜 What happens if you haven't signed up
💜 When the next deadline is
💜 How to get yourself back on track
You can read it on the Lavender Ledger website, or click here:

And if MTD has been sitting firmly on your “I'll worry about that later” list, you're very welcome to get in touch.
